I'm trying to do a transaction on Ebay with a French... we are speaking the same language and yet I'm under the impression that we DON'T. I've done business with Germans, Swedes, Aussies, Brits and even a couple of Turks but the French... It's always complicated with them.

Two nights in a row of 10+ hour shifts with no break at work.

Last night when I was supposed to get off after 10 hours with no break they told me I had to stay until 5 am, which would have been a 14 hour shift. I got out of that, but still...

When our IT system was migrated over from a Novel based piece o' crap to an active directly one, all the PCs in the company were renamed to the standard naming convention of our parent company, ie, sitecode - asset type - serial number. All well and good.

However, some muppet decided to give my CAD workstation (a big, dual Xeon tower of a beast that hurts my back to move) the asset code of L instead of W, therefore identifying it to the network as a laptop rather than a workstation. It is the company's policy to encrypt all IT assets which can be taken off site in case they are stolen. Great, good plan, we've all seen what can happen otherwise.

We have just moved to a different encryption software so everything that was using the old system has been decrypted and then encrypted using the new program. This had meant that my PC has been all but unusable for the whole day as I have been unable to use my emails whilst this has been going on and everything else has been going so slowly due to the constant level of hard drive access needed that anything else has been largely pointless. I have just been able to get my emails open (it's 4:24 and I leave at 5:00....).

None of this should have happened in the first place but it was decided that it would be "too much trouble" for IT to correct the cock up and rename my PC to what it should be.

Now I have to sit and wait for things to open as they need to be decrypted each time, this machine already takes up to half an hour to start up and run to a point where my emails and AutoCAD work due to all the corporate rubbish installed on it. It's a Dual Xeon E5620 and runs like an old Pentium at times (sometimes worse).

Nothing serious, just lots of little things.

Her dad is driving me nuts - he acts like he knows everything and treats me like a child who needs a tutorial for simple things. I'd shout at him but he's mentally ill, although it's not really a good reason to treat me like crap.

My family is nowhere to be seen recently, they never want to see me and although I put up a shield and say I don't care, I actually do. It's a horrible feeling that my own flesh and blood don't really want to see me or my children.

Me and the mrs. are still having problems. She basically just tells me what to do and I have to like it or lump it. She's basically got this course she has to do for work and well, I'm basically doing it all for her because she can't write reports, essays and stuff like that; she isn't very good at wording them to make herself sound intelligent. I don't have to do it, and I shouldn't really need to do her work for her. I'm only doing it because I don't feel like I have a choice - if she doesn't get the qualification she can't keep her job. That and I keep thinking she'll eventually feel as though I've earned something. It's been over two months - we're only 25 and it feels like we're already an old, married couple.

Sure, some of the following might be fit in the awesome-thread, but...

I am on my way to Dublin today, and onward to Killybegs tomorrow.
That in it self is kind of awesome, the problem is that it is a work related trip, and the job is due to bad equipment from a supplier, and it is the 6th ship with the same problem. (I am a refrigeration engineer for large cooling systems), to make it worse, I was presented with this job this morning..
And earlier this week I had to go to "Båtsfjord", a place in the northern part of Norway, that I guess God forgot when he made the earth..

And now I got an Email from my boss "asking" if I can go to Poland for the next two or three weeks...

I would actually want to have some time off work soon, instead of this constant stressful stuff..

It aint all bad thou, last week I went on a job on the Faroe Island, and that was just pure awesome ;)

Off to St Johns Hospital when I get the call for a couple of operations on my nose and a throat dilation. On the one hand it is not good as I am going to have a fair bit of problems for a few weeks following the procedures. But on the other hand I will be renewing acquaintances with some very nice staff out on the ward and in particular a gorgeous blond in the operating theatre recovery room.

I can't help but take peoples internet comments and posts directly to heart and become furious and upset by them. Trolls are obvious, I'm talking about other forums and places, real people being completely tactless.

Noone ever says that they're bothered by it, and I know I know, internet warriors, pay no attention. But I can't help it. Quite literally ruins my evening.

For brevity I'll just quote my post #16427 again:

If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.

So true Nexxo. I'm old and only just starting to sink in. I'm definitely starting to so much more for myself. Others are welcome to come along and enjoy the ride. But equally welcome to do their own thing.

Though I've known it for a while, my marriage is breaking apart. We survived the death of a child and my major illness by my being the one to make the concessions and do the work, but as I work into the best shape of my life she sleeps and shops. I do the heavy lifting, she complains about the mess. And her mother is always overtly hostile. And we live with her. That woman never needs released from psych, she's dangerous. Refuses drugs, stays constantly pissed and nobody lives up to her expectations.

Just trying to figure out the safest way to get out. I expect this will involve restraining orders.
