If you could tell that to my little sister, that would be wonderful.

I'm pretty sure he got banned for behaving in the same manner as he did pripr to the last time he got banned. Also one of his posts was replaced with the word "nope" by a mod so I'm assuming whatever that was contributed as well.

24 hours from now I'll be in California.

My G/F and I were supposed to be leaving for the Oregon coast tomorrow, and I had the money set aside for the trip. Then, back around a month ago she needed to borrow about half of it to pay the dentist fow a procedure that she thought would be covered by insurance, but wasn't. She said she'd have the money back to me by the first of the year. And then by the 9th.

Yeah, you can guess where this is going.

When it became clear there wasn't going to be money for us to go anywhere, I booked tickets to fly down and see my dad, but it means travelling alone (which I HATE), dealing with airport BS (which I HATE), and since I can't take my kayak on an airplane, I won't be getting in the water. In fact, since I'll basically be down there alone (my stepmother is quadriplegic and so dad can't leave the house for more than a few hours), I will probably barely leave the house.

I'm depressed, lonely, anxious, and still not sure I even want to go. :waah:

iirc that was a video showing someone having their toenail removed ( or something to that effect ) also his conflicting views with moderators over the gun control a̶r̶g̶u̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ discussion also likely led to his ban...

a shame as he often posted demotes in the demote thread, and genuinely entertaining videos in the Videos of Awesome thread

I was the one who pulled the trigger (hah!) and I can assure you it had nothing to do with 'conflicting views.' The guy was an arse, and repeatedly broke the Zeroth Rule (you know, the "don't be a nobber" rule.) The final straw was an elongated "infamy, infamy, you've all got it in for me" rant against another member - who happened to be a moderator - for calling him out on yet another misogynistic comment, which included such choice phrases as "SJW" and "mini-Hitler" and basically screamed "BAN ME FROM THIS CRAPPY FORUM."

So I did. Permanently. It would have been a cooling-off ban, but he's had those and they clearly didn't work. So, tatty-bye to Neil. Incidentally, it was the first time ever that I've used my moderator permissions on anything other than freshly-registered spam accounts, which should give you an idea of how unacceptable I considered his attitude and his complete disregard for the forum rules.

You always say you only do the articles so I didn't realise you had full mod permissions Gareth. A fine use of them IMO.

I need Speshul Permisshuns to do things like create new posts in the Article Discussion sub-forum, and those Speshul Permisshuns basically make me a forum admin. Like I say, though, I've previously only ever used 'em to get shot of obvious spam accounts and take some of the load off the moderation team. (Oh, and occasionally fixing someone's double-post or similar, 'cos I'm helpful like that.)

Don't get me wrong, though, I'm no maverick: I reported the post through the forum's report mechanism to the moderation team, same as any other member, and a discussion ensued as to whether a ban was the right response. An agreement was reached, and I pulled the trigger myself specifically because Neil appeared to have a persecution complex about certain moderators. I'm not a moderator, so when I ban him hopefully he'll get the message that his behaviour was unacceptable rather than him shrugging it off as 'well, those mods never liked me anyway, they were all out to get me.'

Tbh I thought his last ban was a permaban and I was quite surprised to see him back, but totally unsurprised that he got banned again [or what he got banned for].

He seemed to get off on baiting mods. Seeing how far he could push thing before someone banhammered him. So whilst it'd be nice to think he'll learn his lesson, I doubt it.

Even if he doesn't learn, at least he'll not be learning somewhere else from now on.

Or damage-to-car incidents (e.g. backing into something) vs. damage-to-other's-property incidents (hitting another car/person). The former is effectively a payout for the actual costs minus the deductable (may even end up a slight profit for the insurer) vs. a third-party payout which will end up being a lot larger.
's one of the tricks you can try when comparing insurance: Look for Fully Comprehensive cover FIRST, before looking for thrid-party-only. Some (not all) insurers' actuarial calculations flag seeking thrid-party-only as a risk factor (and seeking fully comp. as a risk mitigator), but also fail to clear those flags for subsequent quotes.

Can confirm, fully comprehensive actually worked out the exact same price as 3rd party, fire & theft when I looked, after having had a shunt last year at a set of traffic lights. Still managed to get cheaper insurance this year, though.

I don't think any of the mods have a problem with people's opinions, it's more about how they choose to comport themselves in a public forum. Being a knob of the cheesiest variety is not on.

Also, if you'll visit 9GAG and YouTube (the source of 98.72% of all his posts in the demote/video threads), you can experience all of the content he wanted you to watch and much more more besides! ;)

Talking of which, some knob cheese has whacked the mirror cap off our car this morning:

They've left it on the top of the car so it can be snapped back on but still, it must have taken some effort to spin the mirror around like that, they have a pretty strong spring in them.

Off to see about a CCTV camera or two, we already have one by the front door but it's cheap and nasty and can't really see that far.

I'm not a fan of bans and censoring posts, but when he returned a few weeks back there seemed to be some underlying attitude in almost all of his posts that I found weren't to my taste, and his persistence with that ****ing firearms crap just wasn't cricket, so there's no complaints from me.

So.... The landlord decided a few weeks ago to rebuild the garage/shed in the back garden that was burned down/destroyed by the previous owners. Showed up earlier this week saying they were going to start work the next day (yay notice time!). They said they'd move our current shed (and contents) over a few metres off the concrete foundation to work.

Came home yesterday to find all our stuff removed from our wooden shed and thrown into a pile, damaging/breaking a lot of it. Doesn't help the ground was wet already, it rained/drizzled in the afternoon and with the cold temps, everything was covered in frost.

Now I've got a pile of trash in my garden that used to be furniture, tools (power and hand-), computer parts, etc...

Came home today and they've torn down one washing line, and removed the other rotary line...

Back to hospital tomorrow morning: Daughter #2 still ain't putting weight on, sitting at 12 per cent of her birth weight and having lost 70g since last weigh-in despite seeming to feed well. I really hope they don't have to be admitted again.
