Fantastic news: no evidence of a timing chain problem. Instead, the noise appears to have been a combination of a broken bracket somewhere (being replaced in the morning) and the clip for the bonnet having melted(!) and allowing the stand to hit the heat shield. With both fixed, the car should be right as rain - aside from the trouble starting bit, which they're putting down to ten-year-old glow plugs with the advice that if it gets any worse they'll whip 'em out and replace 'em.

    Huzzah!

    Two things today.

    1) The incompetence of a bus company that sends a single decker on a route where a double decker is already crammed by the time it gets to me. Of course this means it sailed past me this morning with the driver making some kind of gesture to indicate that he was full. This route is shared between two companies and they alternate every 20 minutes; of course the next bus due is from a different company, and that company of course does not accept the electronic tickets issued by the other one. All this for a ~5.5 mile route which I can't currently cycle because my bikes are off the road at the moment (both desperately need things serviced which I can't do). And bugger getting a second car, we have enough trouble/expense with one as it is.

    2) A dying man should not be waiting over 12 hours in A&E for an emergency blood transfusion. My dad is still waiting in A&E - over 18 hours and counting - because he needs some scans/tests done and they can't find him a bed on a ward. He doesn't want to spend his last few months sitting round in ****ing hospitals, he wants to be at home with his family. He doesn't have the strength any more to sit round waiting for 5 hours before he's even seen.

Come to London. Transport here is bloody expensive, but at least it's one ticket for all trains, tubes, buses, DLR, trams etc.w

Work one this. Had a user kicking off an applet that clears his cache and cookies didn't work. It uses DotNet so I removed reinstalled bla bla bla, still wouldn't work. Last night I got annoyed with it so just rebuilt it as nothing would work an I was getting WMI errors.
He calls up this morning to complain he has lost data he has been storing on the local C: and the build partition D: (explains some errors I was getting about build space). Hes now raised a formal complaint that I have lost his data, which OK ill admit its gone. But why would you store a project in a location that is not backed up? Well apparently that's what the developers here to, should be a fun day this!

I hate the tube with a passion. But it's it's a fantastic system and gets lots of people moving quickly.

On public transport it was quicker and easier to get from Paddington to Canary Wharf at 8am on a Monday than it is to get to from my home to my office on any day of the week.

Pretty sure the front right Brake rotor is warped, I get some nasty wheel wobble above 60 and it ripped a brake-pad in half on Monday, which was terrifying. (Pulled the friction material off the mount, tore the welds clean off and dropped the pad on the floor.)

The real bugger is that while it's not a horrible job to change the pads: Changing the Rotors needs a couple of VAG only special tools, Plus I lack a proper jack, so I'm having to use the crappy single-wheel jack to sort all this.

    Bonus picture of the Brake Pad Carnage;

Our garden has been a wreck all summer after some dickhead builders (what are the chances?) trashed it. After finally getting it cleared, de-crapped and re-levelled, I scattered grass seed and gave it a good watering-in last night.

18 hours later.... nothing. What do you want me to ****ing do, grass, be ****ing patient or something!?

You'd miss the filters if you were a Mod. Trust me. I've been moderating elsewhere this year and there's no filter, just an alert system that identifies the offending post but not the offending word, so I end up spending ****ing ages trawling other people's ****ing dissertation-esque posts just to find the odd **** or so. ****s me right off.

My Wife's Grandmother recently died and her funeral was yesterday. It was a sad occasion because she was a genuinely nice lady, far nicer than my own grandparents. Mrs. is still pretty upset about it because they were really close.

There's some upsides though. I really connected to a few of her family members at the wake, and her father with his anxiety disorder doesn't want any of the inheritance. He's passing most of it onto us, which is about £16,000. Sad that he doesn't want it, but I think she would've wanted us to have it anyway.

Phone's camera's just shat itself, so the money I'm not spending on a new timing chain for the car is going to have to go on a new phone instead. Boo-urns.

Had to scrap the car, now I'm having the issue of finding another one which isn't going to cost me a fortune which in my price range 1000- isn't going to happen so I'm really unmotivated despite needing transport :/

Oh then i 'have' to take my partners requirements into consideration because she doesn't 'want to be messing around with baby seats so wants something larger.

It seems i go to work, get home, cook my tea, then do my courses, meanwhile she moans and annoys me while watching damn TV,

On the bright side of things though at least I'm looking forward to the peace and quiet work brings as now I work alone and don't have to deal with anyone but myself and the radio!

Picture of my 'heaven' and bliss

An M7 nut. Who uses M7?! Evidently nobody within a 25 mile radius, because nobody stocks them. Have to mail order a F&$%ING 20p NUT to hold the exhaust on.

At least the other nut seems to hold the bracket itself on (but unsealed) as long as you retighten it every 15 miles. So I can ride around with half the exhaust gasses shooting out the front and sound like a complete tosser on a little 125.
