Hi, I want to replace the standard cooler with something that will let me overclock up to 3.6/8Ghz. I know that you cant go wrong with the Akasa Nero but the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 served me well with my old PC so i'm also looking at the new v2 model especially at around £20. Money is a big factor in this decision but i dont mind spending a wee bit extra if it is very reliable and quiet. So what cpu cooler would you recommend based on your own experience?
go for the titan fenrir only £5 more than your budget and is the best air cooler for i7 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Tita...17dBAplus-HDT-CPU-Cooler-(775-1366-K8-AM2-AM3)
Once lapped... my TRUE rocks ! Unlapped.... it actually physically rocks LOL http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=170815&highlight=120+extreme Worth lapping though. Running at 3.8 here and under a linpack test hovers around 59 degrees now the weather is cooler.
Indeed.... just in case his budget wasn't set in stone... I thought I'd throw that in there. I'd also recommend the Fenrir... again, slightly over budget, but sometimes, going that bit further yields great gains... the cooler market seems to be one of those.
Got a titan fenrir, works great (and was fairly cheap). I was about to recommend the arctic freezer 7 then i re-read your post.
Nowt wrong with the Akasa Nero. CPC got a C0 i7-920 to 4GHz with one, as did I. Should do the D0 chips just fine!
@ Marc1314 Check out this thread (12th post down) This build seem decent enough? and as you can see when you look at the screenshot I posted from the Core temp program that I've had the temperature as low as 26 degrees celsius using the Arctic Cooling v2 with an i7 860 and right now looking in my system tray it's showing the temp @ 28 degrees celsius, not bad for a cooler that only costs £18.39 from Scan.
