I have delibiratly left budget out mate.

One card out there must be better value whatever the price and id love to know what it is.

Im thinking after much research the 7600gt but may well be wrong.

7800xx and 7900xx are just too much fort what they are IMO

I havent a clue re ATI either so am not the best qualified to say, hence the thread :naughty:

128 or 256mb X800GTO's are pretty damn good value for money. ~ 50 for the 128, and ~ 60 for the 256mb. Pretty hard pushed to match the performance in that price bracket.

Further up the scale, the 7900GT or X800XT 256mb are also damn good value for money at ~ 200-210GBP. The GT, with a little time and some ramped up cooling will run at GTX clocks fairly happily too ;)

    Hello Highland

Great recomendations. Whats you thoughts on the 7600gt or is it too new to say.

Natrually the meaning of this thread is to point me into the direction of an upgrade.

I was looking along the lines of a 6800gt but have learned the 7600gt is better.

im taking it the 7900gt is better than the 7800gt??

The 7600 seems a decent card for the price, little faster than the 6800GS which in turn is a bit faster than the 6800GT.

The 7900GT is a little faster than the 7800GTX in terms of performance, cheaper in price and runs cooler too :)

All are pretty much the same as most are built to nvidias reference design, if you're not going to be overclocking just look for the lowest price card with a bundle that suits.
If you're looking to overclock the cards heavily, then the "pre-oc'd" cards are a better option, as they tend to have better binned cores.

Lol, like I said in your other thread. I recommended the 7900GT because of that. The 7800GTX is a dual slot cooler solution, while the 7900GT is a single slot and runs cooler. XFX makes good cards, and they have a whole series of overclocked series, prices being slightly more expensive depending on how much they're factory overclocked.

7800GTX=single slot solution. 7800GTX512 (not worth getting) is double slot. 7900GT performance >= 7800GTX.
Just FYI. 7900GT appears to be great value, a medium price combined with kickarse performance.

Yeah I was just thinking about this aswell since in my tech help thread I think my Radeon9800pro just died on me so I guess I'm gonna have to upgrade but for once in quite a few years I think I'm going to dip onto the nVidia side and see what it has been like. (Btw, the ATi was great no probs whatsoever just wanted a change, tight budget)

    :)

XFX 7800GTX seems good to me aswell, anyone got a comparison to a Radeon 9800pro just out of interest? I still think the Radeon 9800 is quite good LOL, am I really that outdated?

7600gt costs around £150 and 7900gt starts around £200, so looking at that, your actually paying for a performance increase, value for money wise 7600gt rules
