    Also likely slow as hell.

Not driven a more under powered car than the inlaws 1.2 corsa D "excite"

The fact there is also a 1 litre version would genuinely scare me!

I would never own a Corsa through choice now. The modern ones look hideous !

thats an insignia for 8.5k, 30k on the clock, from a franchised dealer and its a petrol so no dpf woes

    they've a 62 astra 1.6 too!

i'm a vw guy personally and my 8k last year got me a 4yr gt tdi with 90k on the clock with sm extras...30k later, still ticking over! but with motorway driving i've no worry really with dpf

I hate fwd cars, hence always have bmws but the golf tdis are good to drive. If I had to have a fwd drive car that would be it.

I've looked at BMW's but to be honest I really don't need a car that big, and to be honest neither do I like them. Well no that's not true, I like the cars I just don't like the stereotype associated with driving such a car.

With a 3 mile commute, a diesel won't pay for itself, heck it won't even get warm :D

I like the new Opels, so I guess that goes for Vauxhalls as well. Honda's are much more expensive (here) and for my purposes, the Astra estate wasn't big enough.

The problem with the Octavia estate is, people compare them to Passat's, yet the Skoda equivalent to the Passat is the Superb.
Octavia's are very big cars for their money, and here in Germany the difference in price is enormous. I got a one year old Octavia for the price of a five year old Passat.

Passats are definitely the better drive though, ride quality, especially at high speeds is much better.

Nothing wrong with Vauxhalls not that I own one but you tend to get a lot of car for the money on the secondhand market and they are as reliable as any other brand, most cars from the past few years are much the same in this area with good and bad examples in all brands.

Do quite like the Insignia Country tourer.

Thinking about it I sort of do own a Vauxhall  :D I have a Chevvy Captiva as a towcar which is essentially a better looking Anatara, all I can complain about is fuel economy and paint chips but it has a low power 4cyl diesel, is over 2 tonnes with 4wd and shaped like a brick so its to be expected, it pulls caravan/car and does ~26mpg :D
