I think it's all personal. The meaning of life, for you, is probably going to be very, very different. To quote Becky (Clerks 2): "To ****, as much as possible." Personally, live. Do the living things, do stuff. We only get a short stint where we can do a lot of things. Might as well do it.
Personally don't think there's an overall purpose, it's just because we humans are sentient that we have to believe in some greater meaning. Either that or Joe Haldeman is right and we're all in some gigantic experiment which we're disallowed from escaping from.
I find this comment a bit funny coming from a 17 year old who admitted to having his first bit of sex with what is really a stranger and completely unprotected
If I were a pedantic swine, I'd point out that 42 is the "answer to life, the universe and everything" and "what do you get if you multiply six by nine", all of which comes from The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, whereas the Meaning of Life was a Monty Python film. Oh wait, I am a pedantic swine.
There is no meaning to life, no devine reason why are here - we exist and make our own meaning. Life is what you make it, albeit scociety can certainly influence your experience of life. To me life is just life, no meaning, and 'm happy with that
Wow....burned. Back to the topic; life is a completely natural phenomenon so why must there be a meaning behind it?
As close as I get to any deep thought about the whole shebang. Considering how vast the universe is, and how relatively short-lived and tiny people are... I don't spend time obsessing over it. Man, this probably isn't helping. The approach I have always utilised follows thus: "Don't be a dick." I think it's a pretty good universal rule, myself.
How quickly we all forget. We're here debating the meaning of life, but it seems we've all forgotten what Bit-Tech has taught us:
PureSilver's response is awesome! And now, thanks to supermonkey I'm going to have to look at getting one of those t-shirts!
Why are we here? Depends how you define "why". How are you defining "why"? Simple answer would be because the universe was created, the earth was formed, life started and evolved into us. That is not I think what you want as an answer therefore you must define your question better. What is life all about? Again depends how you frame the question, do you mean your life, all human lives, all life everywhere? For all life everywhere the answer is reproduction. What is the meaning of all? See Silvers response
Discovery, the meaning of life is itself. I may be thinking to literally here but why? We work all our lives, if you believe in God everything is a sin. Regular human actions are a sin. What do we do? We are here to discover, but beliefs hold us back.
