Motors What's the point of Touring Cars anymore?

Seriously, the only reason it seemed I was watching it today was to see the entertaining effects of the only "contact motorsport". Having Ballast was bad enough but now they pick numbers from a hat to see who gets pole!?! It just seems utterly utterly pointless.

Yeah, let's hope F1 doesn't degrade that far, although IMO F1 is shite as well now...

Sounds like a college party or something ;)

The only motorsport I really watch nowadays is WRC. F1 has made me incredibly bored over the past few years although I've not even bothered watching any this season. I always found BTCC more entertaining but again I've not watched any for a while.

IMO, F1 is only exciting when they crash, ever.

I always watch WRC when it's on, that stuff is cool :D

I remember enjoying F1 a lot when I was younger. You used to get people fighting for position for a few laps at a time really pushing the cars to their limits. It looked as if the drivers were really enjoying it and trying hard. I have no doubts that it's a demanding sport still, but the race is rarely more exciting than the qualifying.

WRC rocks, but it's on too infrequently. F1 is alright. It's good to sit and laze to on a weekend afternoon. You watch the start and the finish and that's the best bits.

F1 is a whole new ballgame compared to the previous year... So I recommend watching it again. But, I must agree, WRC is the true pure form of motorsport.

BTCC's reasonably interesting because it's contact and there's plenty of overtaking.

I used to love WRC, but once ITV bought it, the coverage turned crap, and the teams have started to go downhill (bring back the days of Colin McRay @ Subaru and Mikka Hakkonnen @ Mitsu etc)

Now I'm back into F1 again, the new rules of 2006 have really improved it, and the new qualifying system keeps things exciting.

    I'd be watching A1, but I don't have Sky at uni... :(

True Krikkit, the WRC coverage does seem to be a little interview-heavy without enough footage of the actual driving. I was watching it last night though and some of the driving is pure poetry.

It certainly is, but it's on too late/infrequently for my tastes, and it's all interviews etc, not as much of the roadside man-in-a-hedge style footage of some of the best drivers in the world.

BTCC was only good when the cossies and e30 bmws were battling it out.Anyway the real touring car fun is dtm much more action packed and less regs than btcc

That's my point. Watching BTCC is like watching your kids do go karting. It's fun and exhilerating to encourage them and will them to do their best, but when it's all over you go home and get some lunch and maybe have an afternoon nap. Not, wait anxiously for the next installment and wonder which child is going to win the "leauge".

A1 needs to be on ITV, or, at least on digital somewhere. It's wasted on Sky.

Again, with what I was saying about WRC not being enough of: I totally agree it's just an hour of "highlights" which is painfully inadequate considering the time they afford to BTCC just cause Jason and Vikki are on it and it's "British".

Exactly, If we had a UK-WRC'er, that was half decent. It'd get more coverage.
But it shouldn't be like that, and thats what sucks :(

(On a side note, Vikki rocks dude.) :D

It's on ITV usually at around midnight-ish. Not sure what day but it's not on every week or anything, it's totally sporadic :(
