Hey dudes (maybe even ladies?), I was wondering, why exactly DO you mod?

I mod because I hate ugly gray/beige cases. I love colors and electronics. Need to fill my time with something which obviously could only be modding since I like and hate the stuff I mentioned above... So what's up with all the modding? ;)

I guess whe are all "alternative-dudes" (or gals), so we all want something different then our friends, who have plain old beige cases. I know I mod because of that. I'm so alternative, that I don't want a scooter because everyone has the same one. and stuff...

maybe a fight against our parents? like before it was music, now it's modding your PC? I know my parents always nag about me leaving the case off, ...

Desire for something you can never have, would probably be it. (about the avatars). About modding - who wants a boring beige case in today's colorful world? :)

i started because i like hobbys without rules.

i used to play warhammer and 40k but got jack of the staff at games workshop telling me what i can and cant do ....

him - "you cant have a skaven cavalry unit"

me - "and why the hell not?"

him - "cause skaven cant ride horses"

me - "why the hell not?"

him - "its not in the rulebook"

    me - "and?"

    him "so its not allowed......"

me - "so just cause its not in the rulebook means its physicaly imposible that a group of skaven could have stolen horses and actualy became halfway decent at riding"

him - "no, its not in the rulebook which means its not allowed"

    me - :wallbash:

casemodding is great cause the only limiting factor (other than money and the basic laws of physics) is my imagination. not some rulebook nazi who deserves a good asswhupping for playing a fantasy wargame and yet having no imagination.

    Reasons I mod:

    1. Too much time on my hands
    2. If I'm modding my case, I'm off my computer, which is a good thing as far as my parents are concerned
    3. All the looks/questions @ LAN parties
    4. How else can you say "My computer is more see-through than most women"?
    5. Cooling, always important
    6. I fit the mad scientist/evil genius profile, what's it to ya?

I like to think that I mod because i'm a graphic artist, but in reality it most likely stems from my subconscious refusing to admit that i'm horrifically ugly.

Excuse me, I must go feed the other personality...... He's bickering too much and I can't concentrate on my modding........
