I think a lot of developers are having problems with using motion blur. Blazing Angels comes to mind. There is SO much motion blur going on in that game. And there are a lot of games that follow the same route. It just seems like they are going NUTS with it now. A lot of developers are getting it right. They use motion blur in a good way. Now I know that motion blur is a good feature, and could look really cool if used correctly. As far as im concerned motion blur should ONLY occur when you are playing a game in the first person perspective. It seems like a lot of 360 games push motion blur like crazy because people think its cool and it's "next gen realistic." It's not.

Am I the only one who is bugged by this, or am I just crazy?

lol, nice comparison pics. But you do make a valid point. I have noticed that the motion blur is getting a bit ridiculous. Seems like the next "HDR" gimmick. It'll look crap until someone comes along and get's it right.

It's the same every new graphical effect, some people get it right, while others 'over use' it.

Remember all those games that jumped on the cel shading bandwagon?

I am glad Crysis got depth of field correct. It only kicks in when you are aiming down the scope, which makes a lot of sense since you're focusing on what is directly in front of you. Many games with Depth of Field effects just make everything thats not directly in front of you blurry all of the time. Also, DoF, Motion Blur, etc should NEVER be used outside of a first person point of view UNLESS in a cinematic sequence. It makes no sense to get your screen all blurred to **** when you're in a third person perspective.
