I've got a Peugeot 106 XN. When accelerating around corners (on a roundabout for example) I get a slight clicking/ticking noise from both the front wheels. Is my car about to fall apart or what?
I say that's probably it... any rumbling at all? Does it come on under braking as well or just conering? Also does it intensify the harder you push it into the bend?
I don't know the car; is it front wheel drive. It could be the CV joint since you are in a turn accelerating. Do you get the same noise from turning very tight at a slow speed? Is the car new, if not how old? If you think it is the bearing, I would suggest taking off the dust cover and checking the bearing for wear. Easy to replace as long as you have some good grease on hand. You don't need a fancy bearing packer, just use the palm of your hand and pack them well. If your up to it I can tell you how to remove the bearings. It's really easy but ou need some tools.
As far as I remember, I only get it when turning and accelerating. The faster I go the louder the ticking.] It's an N reg (94) and it's friont wheel drive. My car recently had it's MOT done. The front discs, calipers, brakes pads (the whole braking system i think!) had to be replaced. Maybe comething's come lose?
Okay, this is the "lay man's" guide: Clunking noise & pulls when you brake: loose / faulty brake(s) Ticking or thudding when turning or accelerating (you may feel it through the steering wheel): CV's Constant rumble: Bearings
