I recently bought a couple of bits and pieces from a friend (who was getting married so he needed to erase all geeky past times), and among these is a Thermaltake P400 Water cooling pump, which I assume is from one of their 'Big Water' kits.

Now I have been here a while, and I've noticed we have a particular dislike for Thermaltake water cooling parts here...

I've heard Thermaltake like mixing Al and Cu in their kits (which is a severe no-no) but if I use this, I'll be using an all Al system anyway...

So long question cut short, Whats wrong with Thermaltake?

Does anyone have any experience of their Thermaltake pumps failing? Do they explode? Do they break? Will I be visited by the WC Police?

    Thanks,
    MGT

/Waits for the anti-TT crowd to turn up :D It's like the Anti-Vista crowd, but more to do with hardware.

TT watercooling - it's not different from any other cheap watercooling kits, you get what you pay for.

TT CPU coolers are generally very good though :)

Nothing really wrong with their watercooling stuff, just don't expect it to be better than half-decent air-cooling. Their air-cooling products are pretty respectable, and they make some pretty decent fans. :)

Their cases, however, are a completely different problem. *shudder* To think I almost bought one once...

I got the Tt 760i and my CPU idle temp is about 20 degrees and after gaming on something like Crysis its about 26-27 degrees and I have 2x 8800GTX under it pumping out hot air. I’ve had it for about 8 months now and if it breaks then I’ll call it crap. The warranty was the same as all of the better brands.

You are using a really crap program to measure your temps.

Wow! You must be freezing your butt off in that room since your ambient temp is set to 5-degrees! :hehe: ;)

i used a 2 bay 760 bigwater to cool a Athlon 64 it worked ok, mind you that was my very first atempt at Watercooling ..It wasnt quiet it wasnt exceptionally good at cooling the CPU but it looked ok and didnt need a lot of fitting skills .. And it wasnt cheap then..would have been better spending £30 or so on a good Air cooled heat sink
But you live and learn huh

Thermaltake have decent products, but for water cooling i would prefer to go to a reputable brand that is mainly in water cooling, and water cooling accessories, just because they've taken the time to specialize in one specific corner of the market, so they do their research and testing to provide a product superior to others.
