Bit of a weird one this, My wife has asked me to find out what flavour cup cakes people like the most. I figured what better place to ask than on a forum that is built on cheesecake! Personally my favourite is a apple and sultana cake with a spiced apple sauce centre topped with cream cheese frosting and a walnut! So the question is, "if you could have any cupcake what would it be?"
A miniature new york style cheesecake. /thread Honestly though, just a simple choc chip does me nicely. Not very adventuraous but it's the perfect cupcake If you're feeling fancy just make it a butterfly version with some fresh cream.
I could never eat that, all that sugar, not because i couldn't but because i wouldn't like it, now take all the icing off maybe a lil, then i would. I've never been on a diet in my life, but i'm starting to see why there is starting to be an obesity epidemic.
A good chocolate cupcake is hard to find so I tend to try those first. I do like a good lemon or strawberry cupcake.
Quite honestly I don't think I've ever had a good one. Sickly awful frosting on some sponge... not exactly the best. Don't know if it's just that I don't like them.
Oo she made a batch of cheesecake ones the other day but by the time I went to try one they had all gone, guess that's a good sign lol Lemonade cupcakes! that's something I'm sure she hasn't made yet. I'll add it to her "bake for me" list I think as long as you don't go crazy then a little sugar now and again is fine. The obesity problem comes when sugar intake becomes the norm, such as "I always have a muffin after lunch" or sugary foods become a source of daily energy etc Good ones are definitely hard to come by, most of the pictures and shop bought ones usually have about a kilo of icing on top of a tiny cake. Getting the flavour balance seems to be the hardest thing. The ones I've had and really enjoyed didn't actually taste that sweet, more creamy. That just went on to boost the flavour of the cake/filling itself. Both of those sound awesome!
I don't think I have a particular favorite flavor, but I'm not a fan of cupcakes that have frosting piled higher than the cupcake itself. I just can't get over the taste of all that sugar. Give me a tasty cupcake with minimal frosting and we're good to go.
Eton mess cupcakes Sticky toffee cupcakes with salted cream caramel I'll just leave this here http://www.restlesschipotle.com/2010/08/50-best-cupcake-recipes-on-the-internet/
+1 for red velvet! Must be made properly though; got some from Tesco a while back, took one bite and binned them! Dry brown sponge and fake cream instead of marscapone! Only thing that was red was the sprinkles on the top, gutted.
+1 for anything with sultanas in - adds some much needed moisture to the sponge. Therefore carrot, cinnamon and sultana type cupcakes always win my interest - they tend to need less, if any, icing/cream.
My mrs loves baking, especially cup cakes. In fact im in the middle of finishing a portfolio website for her. Ive had soo many different types but I think my fav is lemon
My cousins wedding cake last year was a proper, butter icing coated red velvet cake - made by an actual Canadian relative! (RV cake has Canadian and American roots). It was unbelievable. Nicest cake I've ever tasted
