I can edit my original post if you want to move everything else; would have been a lot easier 3 pages ago though...

    Are they? Really?

If you're happy with me splitting the thread, I can split the thread - though on my laptop, I ain't trying to mess around on my phone...

This is not intended to be devil's advocate but rather real talk. Terrestrial astronomy does nothing to enrich my life. An internet connection faster than 55kb/s (my actual average) would be amazing.

Did you mean megabits per second...? Dial-up was 56 kilobits per second...

No, I don't mean megabits. There is no cable, no DSL here. I have a tethered cell phone connection at 55kb/s average download. Rural Alabama at its finest.

I can sympathise there, till a few months back I was on a solid 167kbs DL downloading anything was painful.

Going to sidestep the whole Musk debate because, yeah, that needs its own thread somewhere in Serious, and I don't have the patience any more.

In terms of politics, global issues, climate change, terrorism, poverty, economics, etc... the last 10 years have been an utter sh!t show and there are no signs that it's getting better any time soon.

For me personally however it's been very positive indeed, especially the last year or two.
