Even though it's clickbait mainly due to it being a rehash of old news, Mr Cameron did say before being re-elected.
Besides if you've got nothing to...Oh wait, if proper legal safeguards are...Damn, look we don't care about all the problems just get it done. :duh:

Because Terrorists are going to arrange a bomb attack over text! No, they will just avoid using modern forms of communication and go back to the old school ways.

I don't really see them having huge success on banning WhatsApp, surely the market would simply get flooded very similar clones within a few weeks to replace it just to spite the government's action?

I recall that it had a fairly extensive change with an improved end-to-end encryption sometime last year.

I've always said pens are dangerous, although I'm more inclined to ban that damn paper stuff as we don't want them writing messages in their own blood or some other bodily fluid. :p

Yea but we need to ban all porn not just the illegal stuff, normal porn is just a gateway image and inevitability leads into the hardcore stuff, from there it's one small step to the illegal porn. :eeek:

And? These facts you speak of mean nothing to an ignorant politician, you only have to look at the proposed psychoactive substance ban to see things like very similar clones mean nothing to inept and myopic politicians.

It was half-arsedly encrypted since 2012 and properly since 2014 for android-android communications. Iphone-android/iphone is plaintext. Its amazing how such an insecure crap (no end-to-end encrytion, requires user to use their phone number and upload entire phone book to whatsup servers) got so popular.
German authorities even isued a statement against using WhatsApp...

I think they'll ban Telegram, RedPhone, and a bunch of other services first, if they are thinking about banning WhatsApp.

Yes, use an encryption system that was cracked by analogue computer 74 years ago, almost to the day. I'm sure that'll fox GCHQ and the NSA! :thumb:
