Just got back from the doctors office from having my wrist looked at. Come to find out that I have Repetative Stress Injury due to over use The doc gave me a wrist splint and some pills to numb the pain and I'm feelin fine! Think when I get home (after calling for a ride of course) I'll throw on some Pink Floyd, turn on my lava lamp and vege... groooovy... Hello. Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? Come on, now. I hear you’re feeling down. Well I can ease your pain, Get you on your feet again. Relax. I need some information first. Just the basic facts: Can you show me where it hurts? -- insert obligitory wrist over use joke below --
Percodan. Guess I'm supposed to take 1 in the morning and 1 at dinner time for the next 3 days. If the pain comes back, I'm supposed to take regular over-the-counter Ibuprofin and call her back.
What docter did you went to? My docter (specialized in muscles and bones and stuff) didn't even know there was such a thing like "RSI"
I work at a hospital and just went over to what's called OcMed (Occupational Medicine) which is kind of like the employee's doctor's office. If we use them, any office visits are free.
I was Diagnosed with Rsi all the way up my right arm a week ago (no obvious jokes!). Its not funny when your tendons are inflamed! I work on a callcentre so use the computer like all day, then use it at home too. It keeps coming back. Gotta take a bit more rest i guess
I guess it's safe as I only take like 1/2 the pill and even as I type, the effect is wearing down. My wrist hurt pretty bad this morning and the doctor was even talking about me going to the emergency room if the pain didn't subside. I've been having to type with my left hand only for the past few days because of it which isn't easy on an ergonomic keyboard! From what I've been told, this stuff is a dirivative of cocane and a controlled substance. I believe Morphine is also a dirivitive of cocane, so I guess that in that case, they are similar.
That's what my doctor told me to do actually. The department supervisor is at a conference out in Arizona and won't be back untill Thursday, but when he does, I'l going to talk to him about taking some time off next week to rest it.
If you want a good test to see if you have RSI... start making an elastic band ball, I can do about 8 elastic bands before I have to give up because of the pain. BITCH.
Presumably you can't drive while you're on these? Or is it just a simple painkiller without any side effect?
A Painkiller without a side-effect is a placeabo . If it numbs pain, its a side-effect... I wonder if I should go to the doc - my right arm is getting a bit sore again, I sometimes hear the *click* of a nerve in my shoulder joint... cant be good I certainly wouldnt mind a pain killer or two, but mainly only for when I have to listen to my dad whine
Side effect at first was making me feel REAL good... Know what I mean? Side effect now, I'm tired. I don't like these pills, I may give the doc a call tomarrow to see if I can stop taking them. I'm not supposed to drive when taking them - and don't
That's better than MY dad's wrist situation. Work related accident where he tore the tendents off. They had to mount them back to the bone in surgery and now he only has something like 30% use of his right hand.
I'm having a similar operation on my shoulder this Friday Spent the last two years with my shoulder dislocating every few days due to tendons being torn off from a judo injury. It involves drilling... and sewing...
Morphine is derived from Opium. Dia-morphine is clinical heroin. Codene is also an opiate. Most of these sort of pain killers all come from opium - Vicodin, Oxicontin etc. etc. The Only cocaine based drugs i'm aware of are local anaesthetics, such as novacaine, which I found to be totally useless when having a tooth pulled years ago!
ive got RSI in my right hand so i have to use my left on the pc now...thats starting to hurt aswell now
