Getting a bit concerned over the QDCs for the external loop I'm currently making, and considering getting a dual serial pump top and pumps to give it a proper shove, but couldn't find a UK retailer with any pwm DDC's in stock. Watercooling UK, Overclockers, Scan (which also appears to be winding down selling watercooling stuff completely given how their selection has dwindled), all completely out of stock unless you buy a pump-res, but I just want the pumps. Anyone noticed similar? P.s. No, alphacool pumps don't count.

A word of warning about those pumps, they're no standard DDC's and have an odd PCB and connector setup, so the heatsinks I got wouldn't fit/work. Took them to the shed for a bit of angle grinder action , but decided to put the rubber clamp covers on to not scratch them. Rubber, holding an aluminium heatsink, that's about to get subjected to major amounts of friction..... Good work crapsack Ended up alright, although the melted one I used a 15mm thick grinding disk that also melted the aluminum and took a bit to clean up and a little scrappy, but ok Looks sweat in the dual top though
So, progress update and report on the pump's performance, seeing as they had been purchased after reading that the barrow qdc's I'm using are really restrictive. I probably would have been fine though... I had filled the external loop in preparation, and once the internal loop had been built hooked up the external loop via qdc's connected to a PCI pass- through. Initially just using the pump on the external rad, managed to get it mostly filled but large bubble in the GPU block wouldn't shift, time to get the serial boys involved. Once hooked up they had an odd pulsing rhythm, like an old supercharged muscle car at idle. I then remembered these pumps have a weird little turn-nob controller on them, so you can switch between pwm mode and manual, and I'd set them to pwm. Dug them out the rats nest and turned them up full, and they created enough head pressure to push coolant out the top of the external res. That's through a qdc, 2m of tubing, another qdc, through an alphacool 480 monsta rad before it even gets to the res, and the res is sat 2feet above those pumps, and had its own pump on full blast pushing it out. Now it's finished and I've got aquasuite set up, if I run the serial pumps past 65% it's like they hit vtec and you can hear them ramp up, and the aquacomputer flow meter goes from reading 80l/h, to not being able to cope and just conking out. So yeh, I think we've got sufficient flow. The stainless steel braiding was a right pita (my thumbs are shredded) as was the alphacool epdm, much harder to get on the boards then the corsair stuff on the external loop. Turned out pretty decent though.
