Colocate the server at a local datacenter... like SagoNet based out of Tampa, Florida. It'll be the most cost-effective route, unless you have a couple thousand dollars (maybe 8-10k?) to pay for the last-mile fiber hook up (plus local loop) from an NSP such as Level3/Global Crossing/Cogent/InterNAP etc.

Colocation at a datacenter usually begins at $50/mo~ just for the rackspace, plus bandwidth, either allocated per Mbit/sec or via a GB/mo limit (through a 10Mbit/100Mbit/1Gbit port). But with a reasonable amount of bandwidth you'd be looking at around $100-$200/mo for colo at Sagonet. And you can't ask Verizon to just bring FiOS to your house, you have to wait for them to roll out the network infrastructure in your area, fiber-optics aren't cheap to run and they won't make you an exception, especially since FiOS for residential use, not for server hosting.

What are you planning on using your server for?
As has already been hinted at it might be cheaper to find a hosting plan somewhere.

What are you planning on running on the server and how BW intensive do reckon it will be?

Even though most of us have the hardware to run gaming and internet servers the whole thing is still easier and cheaper as a hosted deal. Especially when you consider things like: needing a dedicated line, paying for electricity, constantly updating software, securing the system etc. etc.

If you're just planning on running an 8 player CS source server then a dedicated 1mbit up will suffice more than fine.

LOL my exact thoughts when reading the title :)
