    Right I'm trying to buy some coponents for my P.C using only a Visa Electron card and a cheque book. Does anyone know of any good websites that will accept these as a form of payment? Before anyone asks why I just don't go to a shop, the shops in Leicester are crap for selling computer parts unless I go out of Leicester to PC World, which I ain't doing.

    Are there no computer fairs near you?, I get most of my stuff from there. The best thing to do is to go a couple of times to see which ppl are regulars there just incase some part fails or is doa.
    So far I had 2 sticks of faulty memory and have taken these back without a problem.

    Nowhere really accepts visa electrons or cheques online, I had the same problem. But, I filled in an online application for a Natwest Current Account with a VISA Solo (which online stores do accept), and got a letter today saying I had been accepted. So, I recommend you do that straight away, in the meantime if you want to buy things by cheque try www.ebay.co.uk to pick up some bargains.

    Please -H-, it's been mentioned before, stick to the normal text formatting please. There's no reason for the whole post to be in bold.

    Cheers :)

    A lot of places will simply let you type in your visa electron number instead of normal visa. Just select visa and type in your credit card number..you might just find that it works :D

    Yeah that seems to have worked at a few sites but most kinda figure it out and then send you an e-mail.

    As far as computer fairs go we have a few but they are mostly over priced crap that you can pick up from the shops.

    I'd recommend trying to get that Electron card upgraded to a Delta - accepted everywhere including Dabs ;)

    Electron = sucks

    I have one of those Barclays Merchant Services PDQ terminals, and we can accept Electron... but ONLY if the cardholder is present, as it states in the instructions:

    Like the man said, computer fairs are good but you have to make sure you know who you're dealing with. We have about 5-6 Computer fairs a month where I live so I know most of the guys that are at them.

    yeah my electron is pretty much a waste of space.

    as for where to buy the computer parts, I'd suggest anywhere

    BUT Ebay, I learned that the hard way. :cries:
