Hi i am looking for a frame for an old model Vespa or Lambretta scooter frame.

Most of the frames on ebay are either overpriced or total junk. I bid on a 1957 Vespa frame but i lost the auction by one pound! The winning bid was £59.87 including postage :(
Since that auction I have looked all over ebay but have not found anything to my liking or price range

Does anyone no of a site in which they advertise or sell classic scooter frames? They dont have to be mint condition but i am not willing to do any welding as i am not experienced in this area and to not have enough money to make a mistake. ( I'm a painter not a welder) surface rust is fine as i can shot-blast and sand :D

This is going to be for a project that i will complete over time. Any tips are welcome.

    Thanks

    Freecycle?
    Scrapyards?

Can you learn to weld? :p
Some may just need a good wire brushing.

i was actually thinking about doing a local welding course but was not sure if it would have a large benefit. It would probably be better if i spent a bit more money on a frame than spending my money investing in about £100 worth of welding gear. I know how to use a MIG welder which is probably the most common and easiest welder to use, the problem is that i have not had much experience with it which mens the chances are that my welds will look unprofessional and wreck the look of the rather expensive metallic lime green paint that i plan to use for the top coat of the frame.

Thought about buying a slightly scruffy frame then having it shotblasted + powdercoated? Could be a good route if you find one that's cosmetically ruined.
