I am currently thinking about building a new computer case and would like to use aluminum film such as this: does anyone know where i can get such a product in the US. It would need no structural stability of its own, it will be affixed to a plexiglas body Akira
It looks like common flashing that builders use which is made of aluminum and comes in various widths.
what exactly are you attempting to do? from what it sounds like you're trying to do, you'd only need 1-3mm thick
If your just slapping it on the back of some plexi then it doesn't matter, if its goin on the front however make sure its big enough to resist some scratching
Thats a point... where could i get hold of ths stuff really cheaply in the united kingdom... any ideas???
1-3mm!?! He's talking about a flexible sheet here... My bezel is made of 1.5mm free standing aluminum... (Maybe you mean .1-.3?
I'm with Bard. I have made fan grills from 0.9mm ali and they are plenty strong. Incidently, you can get silver coated acrylic, might be worth a thought?
where would we think of getting this type of stuff... a normal fabrication works..? or perhaps a local DIY store??? Rm
http://www.alsacorp.com/c_sheeting.html I have ordered from them before, but they obviously have issues with the order page on the web site today. Still take a look at the products. They are in California. Some others I am looking at today. http://www.tapeease.com/anodized.htm
The film will be attached the outside of a plexiglas body. Thanks Zeke_D, the stuff from tapeease is not possible due to its high minimum order, but alsacorp looks affordable (enough). Do you think their product will resist sratching if placed on the outside of the case? Thanks for all the input
Oops, i forgot something. In looking for aluminum flashing I came across this ,Amerimax Flashing , any comments on it?
