Can anyone recommend somewhere to print? somewhere that doesn't apply extra consumer filters over the photos. last time i printed using Jessops, i tweaked them to look good on the screen sRGB, but after printing, there seems to have an extra contrast and vibrance filter applied. also reasonably priced, not like £4 postage for 50 prints, i don't mind waiting a few days.
http://www.dscolourlabs.co.uk/index.cfm I've used them a couple times can't fault them and cheap . [Edit] only for bulk orders mind so get a good few photos together first[/edit]
thanks, will probably use them when i have a lot of shots for printing. what about photobox.co.uk? saw them on hotukdeals with first 40 free prints. worth a try?
the best prints I have had printed were from Loxleycolour.com but the're not cheap and their ordering system isn't the consumer friendly snuggle bunny that they places like photobox use.
For nothing its always worth a go if you they turn out crap (my guess is they will) hasn't cost you anythying I tend to only print large stuff, canvas & poster prints, you looked at getting your own printer if your not planning on getting loads done ?
i have not. never been a fan of owning a printer with hassles of ink cartridges. could a consumer printer get similar result as printed professionally? well, photobox isn't completely free, still wants postage. guess i'll give them a go and see what happens. thanks
I've used Jessops many times and if they screwed up my photos I always got them redone at no extra cost, but in saying that their printing lacks consistency. They are the cheapest (and fastest) option but you'll have to go to a "proper" printing shop if you want any better, as per the other suggestions in this thread.
A good judge of whether a printing place is good or not, is to ask them what colour profile you need to send your work in. If they sound confused, they're probably crap. If they tell you to just use Adobe RGB1998 or whatever they're probably OK. If they say go to our website and download it.. they're probably brilliant. I notice DSColourlabs linked to above by M_D_K, let's you download the printer/media profiles so you can soft proof your images. That's good.. out of all the suggestions on this page, I'd feel happiest using them.
