i was messing around with my system earlier and one of my HDDs seems to have decided that its going on holiday. I'll explain the drive in question is a maxtor 80GB hard drive split into two Partations when i finished what i was doing i booted the system back up to find that one of the partations is gone partation magic can not see it and it does'nt see 40 gb of free space unformatted space either it sees one of the partations and thats it windows only sees one of the partations but the bios sees it as an 80 gb drive and smart mode says that the drive is smart capable and that status is ok

the drive was partationed as a ntfs drive.

i've also tried getbackdata for ntfs but that can not see it either

if any one has any ideas on how to get the drive back sort of fdisking that entire hdd it would be appreciated.

i say short of fdisking it because the partation it can see has all my stargate episodes on it. so fdisking is a big NO/NO
