@Tim X Thanx for that. I didn't want to say that I couldn't see much change on the modding front here as I didn't want to get into a war of words with someone who had obviously been supporting this site/community for some time. As a modder I would only ever glance over this site until Custom PC mentioned joining it's forum section for discussions. I was always either at PCApex or Mod Nation(sorry if you call this advertising but I'm sure everyone has heard of them anyway) for the modding scene so it couldn't have had that much going on. As it stands though I will try to support it and help if I can with any tech probs(if you'll have me), and when I continue my project I'll put up my woklog on this site, unfortunately that won't happen until I've finished doing my MCSE exams as the project is rather large. I'm sorry @Yemerich if I've upset you a little as I know how you probably feel about this community as we all love our home, It's not intentional but it's unavoidable when you have a lot of pride in something.

It's just a sugestion but it might be a good Idea to start a thread for all the Custom PC modders to introduce themselves and help them feel more at home then we can really get the modding section going. Never know Bill Owen might even become a regular plogger here.

Maybe they could be made more accessible by featuring them on the main site? I don't really have time to read the forums anymore, but always have a scout around on the main site.

@ Digby: You are welcome :D A pity some of the pictures are broken :/

@ Tim S: First i wish to thank you for the extensive feedback:thumb:
I do Agree that the old site design wouldn't fit here nowadays. Even back in it's time that design was ugly... sorry to say that :sigh:

Although most of the tutos were already done, most of them are in middle of a worklog and not tuto oriented. And it is really hard to find them where they are.

The MotM and MotY are the best competition in the world (I just don't agree much to the way it's voted, but that's another topic)! Really! And the effort from BT to make that happen didn't go unoticed. And we know that the contacts with the industry is essencial to make it happen.

I am sure that Rich (Bindi?) and Antony will do a great job with the modding part. I can't wait to see that!

As for the tutos, I know it's virtually impossible for you guys at the staff to make them, but again I suggest: wouldn't be a good idea to put some of the best (made by the community) in the front page? That would be very gratifying at least for me!

I took a "not soo deep look" into Custom PC and I think they are doing a nice job but... The site, if you forgive me, looks like a blog, a "side note" site. But still the main problem is that I LOVE bt, and i don't want to migrate...

    @ Leeum posts 1 & 2: exactly my point :D

@ Jux: Relax friend, no offense taken! ;) And i have to agree with you that I tend to overrreact about my beliefs sometimes, but i assure that was not the case. It was the case when Joe gave a 4 out of 10 for Diablo! That's blasphemy!

To sum up, I don't think the site need to give up anything to support a little more the modding comunity. Just put some comunity tutos on the front page once in a while for example in a month or so. That would say to the readers that modding is alive and well!

    Cheers :D

PS: Have you noticed that the default phrases over the avatar images are all modding related?:hehe:

I'm really glad you guys are putting in so much effort to improve your support to the case mod community. Your new enhanced stealth MOTM contest is so good I hardly notice it.

Hey John. Why don't we run one ourselves? Start a new thread with a poll. Drop in some worthy nominees with some worklog links and a few photos.

    How hard can it be?

Looks like the support for the community was left for dying per se. I was at first kinda excited reading things in this thread about CPC helping us here. But after the last two mods that came from CPC's readers driver (or something like that) I had my thought like "where's MotM" too.

I hope it's just an impression too. But if the modding community in this site dies, the very essence of BT dies with it. Not to mention the best modding community IN THE WORLD.

That would be as sad as seeing to what Bethesda done with Fallout 3. I really hope I am wrong, but the last time i was wrong was when i THOUGHT i was wrong...

I am going to bring this up AGAIN. Click on the Front Page. One has to go to page 4 to find a single modding post. Still with the Games and Hardware reviews. Does anyone really look at the forum stats of who visits which forums? Project Logs, Modding? Page hits?

I hasz a sad for modders on Bit-Tech. Overclockers, hardware fanbois seem to be the thrust STILL since the takeover.

I missed this thread the first time around, but since John brought it back up I have to say that I miss the main page tutorials and mods as well. I know alot of the stuff has already been covered, but mods (like the Extreme Lian Li and the Carbon Li) are what brought me to bit to begin with and I'd love to see more of it on the main site

    MOTM's disappeared this month?

BT is still THE place for modding but when the site itself isn't being proactive about it, one wonders how long it'll last.

The problem is in web-design layout as the "modding" gets drowned-lost.
They'll have to make separate galleries with thumbnail preview and better guide menu; separating the discussions and inserting the text in a by-thread.

They already started; I noticed today a flash-flag proclaiming the learning of web design. :D

There is always hope. :) :))

I'm gonna bump this thread b/c I totally agree with it. When I complained about this a while ago, I was told that more modding will be on its way shortly. While things have improved somewhat since then, today's Bit is certainly not the Bit that I was greatly impressed with and in awe of almost five years ago when I first found her.

From the front page you have to go to page 6 to find the "latest" modding article - Sept. 7th.

    The screen capture of now

Look at the modding section 114 in logs and 67 in modding. 96 in hardware because B-T has a rep for telling it like it is. 41? in gaming and it gets most of the front page?

Members and guest are paying attention to modding.

Who do we need to petition for more exposure?

Personally I'd like to see some articles on automatically controlled systems - ranging from basic things such as setting up automatic fan control with speedfan, up to controlling lighting and servos with arduino boards.

Although I suppose I'm not making much contribution to the cause - my project has been 'just about to start' for the last year and has change completely over time. I'm hopeful for it starting over the half-term though if anywhere gets an A05 in stock in time!

(it's not only modding that has finished in deep waters)

I bought myself a subscription to Custom PC for Christmas a couple of years ago but cancelled after a year due to the lack of modding content in the magazine.

The hardware reviews were great but then .. I can find that stuff online. My expectation was that the magazine would be more modding oriented than it was by nature of the title "Custom PC" --> Custom implies customised implies modded.

My logic was flawed and floored. I only got round to opening the December 2008 Subscribers special edition yesterday and haven't read it yet.
