the CU II TOP is actually cheaper than the reg CU II on scan atm lol.. obviously only for pre order

also it says it is 2.5 slot, but is it really? surely it is 2 slot like the reg CU II

GTX670 SLI is definitely worth a look!

Considering these custom cooled 670's are basically level pegging with reference GTX680's (due to the fact they often boost higher) you are essentially going to get 680 SLI performance for ~ £100 less.

This is the main reason I ended up going with 670 SLI instead of adding a second 680. The 680 is a fantastic card and ultimately at the same clocks it would be 5-10% quicker than a 670, *but* the reference prices need to drop £25-40 in my mind to make them viable.

The TOP is identical to the normal Direct CUII (please see the last image of mine above showing it below a reference 2 slot 680) the only changes are the binned GPU's and out of box clocks.

    Just for info,

I got a SMS from Scan this morning at 11:30 saying that DPD now have my ASUS 670 CU II TOP along with a tracking reference. As I used Bit-Tech free delivery which defaults to next day. I can only assume I'll get my card tomorrow.

Fingers crossed it turns up. I emailed Scan last week asking when they'd get this card in and the guy in sales said they didn't know yet.
I have to laugh how its cheaper than the Standard CU II, But then both Scan and Overclockers want 370ish for it while Novatech was selling it for 349 for the standard one.

Dabs has the TOP version at £349 in stock. It looks like £320-£350 is the current typical price for non-reference 670s.

Aye I saw Dabs had them as well but I figured I'd rather pay £10 extra for 'free next day delivery' via DPD :p

vs Dabs who use Yodel, who bluntly put, are ****

It's £5 next day delivery at Dabs now, though there's almost always a £10 off voucher for Dabs orders over £50 (currently it's 'voucher10'). I think all these couriers vary depending on the local depot, some people have nightmares with DPD (for me Yodel and DPD have always been ok, while Citylink is useless).

Awesome! Glad I went with the Asus card, as I was quite torn between it and the gigabyte windforce!

But I was won over by brand, backplate and it is apparently the quietest of the 670s. How does it overclock?

Went with tri sli in the evga variety for mine. Since going with evga I don't think I would touch another brand

Not 100% convinced by the quiet argument. What are the fans like at 100% on the ASUS?

Today my Gigabyte peaked at 42% and it's silent. When I want real cooling 100% is very loud but then that's the power of three fans at over 4,000RPM so hardly surprising! Need subjective tests and reviews never do enough 'what if' circumstances!

The Asus card is dead quiet in idle and not a lot of difference under load.
If you manually whopped the fan up to 100%, of course it makes some noise but on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the previous EVGA GTX 570 SC card I had, this is a 1.
Not vcery subjective I know but I have 9 case fans (10 including the CPU cooler) and seriously value my need for quiet, hence the fan controller etc etc...this card does not add to the very little noise I currently put up with.
Haven't overclocked it yet as I have been through such a period of fiddling and changing over the last 2 months with my PC that I am currently 'playing'!

I love EVGA but the Sli GTX 570's I have just sold for the 670 were noisy buggers compared to this card.

Considering I didn't notice when my two Direct CU's had moved up from the 10% idle fan clock to 55% in Heaven I would say they are pretty quiet.

All of this in a Define R3 which isn't exactly known for being loud.

Still waiting in anticipation of your GTX 670 SLI review xaser04!

Since ditching GTX 460 SLI I might actually turn the case fans down. Then my PC should be back to inaudible! :thumb:
