What role is the car going to be primarily used for?

I take it that the car'll be purchased outright? Also depends if the cost of insurance is an issue.

I'd rule out the BMW, Lexus and A6 as with the engines you've specified they're all underpowered imho.

I'd steer clear of the left hooker TTs too as they're only going to be more difficult to drive but'll cost more to insure and tougher to sell on. If you want 4 seats and any luggage space they're not the best.

    That basically leaves the A4.

The BMW isn't an underpowered car by any means, but it's not a big-hitting performance monster. I'd look into getting a second hand car suchas an Audi RS8/6/4 or a Scooby/Mitsi Evo VI-VIII if i were you. :)

[edit] If you're convinced about getting something like an Audi TT, get a Porsche Boxter for god's sake, the Audi pales in comparison with it imho - everything about the Boxster is a class above the Audi apparently. [/edit]

Well the 2000 BM in question has a power to weight ratio of 86.76 bhp/tonne.

    In comparison a Renault Clio 1.6 has 103.92 bhp/ton.

That's underpowered in my opinion. :)

Problem is, they're about £40,000. An RS4 is about £30,000; both might be a bit much considering the listed above.

My vote officially goes to a Porsche Boxster S Hardtop with about 10k miles (well run in, but not knackered.) :)

Oh and jimbo, we should take torque into account too - the Clio probably (cba to look up the numbers) has less torque, which is a contribution to the true power of a car imho. :)

If a small car is fancied, a ClioSport 172 or a Clio V6 are both amazing cars, particularily the latter, with serious performance for a small(ish) price, as well as looking pretty sweet and being able to park them anywhere flat. :)

The boxter is a POS, the engine is such a ***** to do work on, you literally have to remove the seats and interior to service it, the engine placement was very poorly layed out.

Yes, but being a mid-engined car it handles well - who gives a flying **** about mechanics? They rape you through the ass for what they do anyway.

That they do but the more difficult a car is to work on the higher the labour costs associated woth any given piece of work. Seeing how labour is the thing you usually get 'raped' the hardest for it's worth taking into conideration.

On the suject of the bmw and tourqe it's figure is 148/3500. A Clio 100bhp 1.5dCi is 148/2000.
