    Yo.

I have both of these cards. I'm not sure which to keep, so maybe you guys can help.

    4890 1GB:
    Pros:
    Smaller card
    Cheaper water block
Pretty good specs and power consumption

    Cons:
    Not an X2.

    4870 X2 2GB
    Pros:
Was Uber until a week ago.

    Cons
Expensive water block (twice the price of the 4890)
    High power consumption

So, which would you keep, buy a water block for, and use?

the 4870X2 would give you a longer life between upgrades, so i would say keep that.

or sell it and buy another 4890 for crossfire... hehe

    so you already have both?

keep the 4870 x2 man - its still a goliath and yeah theres a few driver issues that have been brought up... but you cant argue with the solid frame rates its going to provide you with well into next year. easy.

and the con of the waterblock does suck - but i think itd be worth it

    =D

what board have you got, pretty much everything is crossfire compatible...

in that case i reinforce my opinon on keeping the 4870X2.

I have a single-pcie-slot gigabyte ****-o-board at the moment. Money really needs to be spent on a new one, but I am out of notes.

With the 5870 about to be released I'd sell whichever one you can get more money for and upgrade. You could also wait a little longer and pick up a 5870 x2. Also I'd wait for the water blocks to be released for the 5870 before I water cooled any 4xxx card.

But if you're not bothered about the 5870, I'd keep the 4870 x2.

I'd agree with the above. I have a 4890 and love it. Also if you were using it for gaming there ain't really any games out there for you really to change anything yet.

I would definitely keep what you got and wait a bit.
