OK, i'm a newbie here, but this looks like the right place to put this...

I'm in the process of my first (basic) casemod, and rebuild, and i've got 2 PCI-E graphics cards knocking around, and I was wondering which was best to use.

    - GeForce 128mb 6200FX (Turbocache)
    - Radeon 256mb X600 Pro

Soooooo which would you go with, if it you couldnt afford anything better, and it was all that was going?

Yea I asked a couple of people at college, and they both said there wasn't much in it, but it should be the x600....just asking the question to a wider knowledge base :thumb:

:thumb: X600Pro is really just a 9600Pro in PIC-E instead of AGP, so if you wish you can find plenty of benchmarks using those. 6200-TC tend to be a touch slower than the non-TC 6200 although the TC cards can really vary spec-wise and AFAIK it's hard to find out too. Although the 6200 has a more modern archy it lags speed-wise, I'd say too much to truly catch up (plus any titles demanding GF6's SM3.0 will surely play too slow on 6200 anyway). To compare them on paper (which ignores diffs in archy and efficiency):

    X600Pro Core=1600+200 RAM=9.6GB/s
GF6200 Core=1200+225 RAM=8.8GB/s (memory clock speed vary, can also use 64bitDDR yielding half the b/w)
6200-TC16 Core=1400+263 RAM=2.8GB/s (TC will add to RAM speed)
6200-TC32 Core=1400+263 RAM=5.6GB/s (TC will add to RAM speed)
6200-TC64 Core=1400+263 RAM=5.6GB/s (TC will add to RAM speed)

    It's a TC32 I think...hmmm looking at those specs, i'm thinking i'll wack the x600 in, and flog the 6200 / use it another project. The TC32 looks.....well...pathetic...oh well, it lasted a year...:thumb:

The x600Pro is a much better card than the TC, as it has its own memory, and doesnt.... borrow from the RAM, there fore games should run faster and quicker:p
