This isn't really a valid argument as most pentium 2.4Cs will overclock well above 3GHz, even with stock cooling for a very modest outlay.

I would have to say that the 2.4 M0 stepping is one of the best value processors available. But then, much like the recent argument about RAID or not, it very much depends what you are doing. For video encoding and certain games, intel are better, for others, AMD are better, it is back to the old case of realistically identifying what you will be using the computer for and then choosing accordingly. The is no right answer to the question of AMD vs INTEL, and to be honest, if you get a pretty top end computer from either side of the river, you really aren't going to notice the difference in everyday usage.

    Please grow up. :sigh:

I agree with 8-ball. each type of system is best suited for different things.
AMDs are usually baought for game servers and such. But when 3D graphics rendering is needed, intel would be a better way to go...
Well, I could go on and on, listing which processor is best for what... but I think most of us know that.. and I don't want to start a flame war.

I like both AMD and Intel systems right now, so I have no preference on which is the end all be all system.

    Lets see...
    AMD Athlon XP 3000+
    Intel Celeron 1.4 Ghz (P3)
    Intel Celeron 566 Mhz (P3)
    Intel Pentium 2 400 Mhz x3
Intel Pentium MMX 200 Mhz x2

Wow, I have a mess of old Intel stuff; fortunately, the only ones very much money was spent on my family's part was the Athlon XP 3000+ based machine and the older 566 mhz Celeron. The 1.4 Ghz one was free
