I want to know which configs out of these 4 would cool my computer the best. config 1 1 fan at the back of the case 2 fans on the side pannel aiming at the CPU & graphics card [/IMG] Config 2 1 fan at the back of the case 2 fans at the front near the DVD bays Config 3 1 fan at the back of the case 2 fans at the front near the DVD bays 1 fan on top of the case Config 4 1 fan at the back of the case 1 fan on top of the case 2 fans at the bottom of the case The info i have given in the 1st config is where the fans should usually be fixed. But now i have modded my case and im using an Acrylic sheet as the side pannel. So not place to fix fans. So which config would cool my computer the best? And which way should i use my each fan (intake or exhaust?)
a) learn how to crop images b) use the 3rd one, but add a side fan if your gfx card is getting too hot.
with config 3 you may find that the top fan ' steals' cold air - could lead to hotter graphics cards if low in the case and equally decrease the efficiency of the rear fan. of the 3 only the first will create airflow through the base of the case but I still dont see it as ideal. I'd go hi low at the front and one at the rear... wheres the optical drive btw?
the top case fan would be blowing air OUT of the case thus making the airflow front to back. remember that hot air rises, so if you can get cooler air from low down (ie from the front of the case) then expel the hot air out of the top using the back and top fans.
Barndoor i wont be able to fix fans from low down on the front of the case. (My power buttons, USBs, etc.. are located there) I added config 4 also. But will it suck dust from under the case?
if you put it on a relatively dust-free desk or something then you should be fine, otherwise use dustfilters.
@barndoor101 I was refering to config 3 which has the intake fan at the top... would create a dead area in the bottom of the case... I go also with config 4 given a low front intake is not possible... remember dust filters though...
make sure your fans blowing in the same direction, to have an efficient air flow. I agreed with the barndoor101 configuration.
