Unfortunately I have not played with SPARC clusters. I sell blade clusters though.

I'll be using open-mosix. From what I can tell, it almost simulates an SMP environment. I mostly want to do it becuase it'll be fun. I also don't have to have the other nodes online all the time. Its also a good excuse to get gigabit in a bunch of computers and such.

    I'll have the following setup:
    intel p4 3.3ghz 1gig ram (main node)
intel p4 3.06ghz (secondary node) (need another hdd)
amd athlon xp 2000+ (secondary node) (don't have hdds yet. most likely do 4x 300gig sata in raid 5.)
(*1)dual amd athlon mp 2000+ (secondary node) (don't have hdds yet)
amd mobile sempron 2800+ (secondary node) (don't have mobo/ram/hdds yet)

The main node will have 4x 120gig hdds in a raid 0+1 array. The secondary nodes will have a 2 disk soft raid 1 array (most likely 80gig drives.)

(*1)This will be running xen. one install for the open-mosix cluster, another for some media pc linux distro, another for a nas distro.

What do you think of the setup? Not sure the xen cluster on the dual athlon mp will work nicely though.

    My apologies.

What are you looking to do that Linux won't do and I'll see if I can be more helpful.

Dreadful sorry, should have been more awake before posting.

Can I just warn you that NTFS write support in Linux is seriously unreliable

Basically, the only thing I KNOW works is FAT32, but that's um... sub-optimal.

Which side will be used more, Linux or Windows? That may be a determining factor...
