hey guys... well i currently have 2 computers :

    AMD Athalon 3200+ 64 Processer
    512 DDR Ram
    GeForce FX5200 128meg graphics card
3DMARK03 BENCHMARK : 809 - crap i know ! thats why i will probably upgrade this video card

    and a:

    Pentium 3 2.26 Ghz
    1024 DDR ram
    GeForce 3 ti200 128 meg graphics card
3DMARK03 BENCHMARK : 1331 - bit better but still bad...

Anyways im looking at buying a new graphics card from this website here http://www.pp.co.nz/VideoCards-nVidia.php but im not sure which one to get... im looking at a card in the $300 - $350 range ( keep in mind these are in NZD which are double USD so thats why they seem so expensive ) currently im thinking about the Leadtek GeForce FX 5700 A360 TDH 256MB AGP Video Card DVI Video-Out 8x AGP which is $329.. what do you guys think to be the best choice from that website? id really like some good feedback/ideas oooh and only out of the cards that are avaliable from the supplier thanks a lot guys.

I think you need a better supplier-those prices suck :blah: Even for NZ dollars.

:duh: Are you looking to replace the FX5200 or the GF3TI200? The GF3 is probably faster BTW. Don't limit yourself to nVidia unless you need top-notch Linux drivers. What is it you want to run, is DX9 a must? Will you be o/c'ing at all? Anything below FX5700ultra pretty much sucks, clock speeds deviate and perf is comparatively low in the first place. So the first choice would be the FX5700ultra, but that's $355 and is easily way inferior to the FX5900XT which is just $360 (with 256MB too). These are a little over budget but it would seem that if you'd paid a little more in the first place for gfx cards you wouldn't need to upgrade so soon. The gfx card is THE most vital component when it comes to gaming. GF4TI4200 ($255) is also a good card, a good o/c'er too, but even at stock it can keep up with a GF-FX5600ultra until you get into AA+AF and DX9 (as it's only DX8).

:thumb: I strongly urge you to consider the Radeons though. Better on all counts, well except for Linux drivers. 9600Pro ($205!) is about as good as the FX5700ultra, the 9600XT ($264) is better still, though a little slower than FX5900XT it has other benefits such as superior IQ, AA+AF and more consistent perf. FX5900XT has loads of o/c'ing potential though, unlike the 9600XT. There's no need for 256MB although if it doesn't cost much extra it is nicer for the long term. The 9800Pro is $405 BTW, much better than FX5900XT but probably too far past your budget. So depending on what you can really afford ...

    9600Pro $205
    9600XT $264
    FX5900XT $360
    9800Pro $405
