I'm considering buying a decent heatsink and I was wondering which of these two to get: 1)Cooler Master Heat Pipe HHC-001 2)Alpha PAL8045 I've heard that the coolermaster is quite good with the heat-pipes, but absolutly everyone reccomends the alpha Which would provide the best performance and what are the possibilities for sticking a 120mm delta on either? ~Sepherus
While I'm posting, whats the TS Heatronics Zen CPU Radiator like? Theres no real chance of me getting this (look at the price) but I'm curious Any probs fitting any of these three to my mobo? (KR7A-133R)
I too am looking at geting a PAL8045 and fitting it sometime in the future when i have thhe time to dismantle my whole computer. A few questions :- Should I get a CPU shim for use with it (OCS says i should but i think this might be to make more money ?? How exactly do the fans attatch to the heatsink and are 80mm the standard size?? Will I have any problems fitting it with an Asus A7V266-E revision 1.07 board??? Thanks
a shim is used to protect the core of the chip from being crushed. As the alpha pal 8045 bolts on to the motherboard there is no need for a shim. You can get 80 > 120mm adpaters if you live in the US as i have seen them on a website a while ago. I would recommend the alpha pal 8045
I think my version of the A7V266-E doesn't have this problem I'll find a pic later to show you what i mean. Anyone one have a 8045 and an A7V266-E?? ^ my mobo has a diffrent layout of the capacitors ^My mobo capacitor layout
Look through the archives of this forum for a thread called "Dangerous Heatsinks". Then buy the Alpha.
why don't you make a sticky just saying - buy the alpha pal 8045 as i seem to be telling people a lot lately. Also make the dangerous heatsink list a sticky as that would probably help a lot of people.
Ok. I'll do that....at the time I did ask if people wanted it that way, but didn't get a lot of response.
With all the recommendations of the Alpha sink we all make here, we should get an Alpha/Bit-tech special price like the Matrix Orbital/Bit-Tech LCD
