Your advice needed and much appericated. Cheers Philip
what kind of gaming? for office, internet and solitaire then the first one will be plenty. For Crysis, neither.
The second one doesnt seem worth the price compared to the 1st you've posted although you dont say whether the 1st comes with an OS or not. Personally id go neither, but if it had to be between the 2 listed id go for the 1st and maybe use the money saved for a better graphics card if he wants to get into any demanding games.
Im not sure if the first does come with os, but appently does come with internet protection and office software. Also he doesnt really do anything in terms of serious gaming.
Internet protection? I hope you don't mean Norton or McAfee... those two are viruses in their own right. If you want Office software, if you don't mind it not being MS Office itself, you can try this: http://download.openoffice.org/cont...ffice.org&os=winwjre&lang=en-US&version=3.1.1 at least until you've gotten a hold of the real Office.
Ditto... Maybe something from Here if he wants to buy "ready made" as opposed to building one... ________ BUY BUBBLERS
the thing is guys, he'd perfer it to be local place. would any of you guys suspect anything from novatech for the price or possibly pcworld (although they are usually over priced)?
If you just want an office/general computer then Comet have the Acer X1301 for good prices atm - I got one for my sister a few weeks ago and it's brilliant value. The hardware's pretty respectable and it's a quiet, small form factor. I think PCWorld/Curry's do one with a monitor bundle too.
