I have a trusty old nokia lumia 800 that I bought from this very forum. I like the build quality and the windows software (7.8) is nice as its different from the herd. However, I'm not happy with the storage capacity of 16gb (sits at around 14gb after operating system which is nice) and the power draw even when all data and wifi is toggled off - I get a days usage. I don't use the phone for apps or facepalm... Very rarely use it for Internet mainly because I carry an iPad3 around. I would like a decent camera and mini-sd facility. I was after some suggestions from people who have the phone they are recommending. I was waiting on the Nokia 925 announcement but I am all "meh" over the specs being almost exactly the same as the 920. Not a fan of the Samsung Galaxy. So yeah... There's that. Am also thinking about replacing my ipad3 with the mini version when retina comes out... Any thoughts?
If you already have an ipad, then maybe an iphone 5/4s? The HTC One is my personal android favourite, with the Nexus 4 second due to value for money and stock android. In terms of a tablet, I think you're probably right to wait for the iPad mini, as a retina screen is pretty likely, along with a spec boost (tuned A6X most likely).
Nexus 4 for the phone, Nexus 7/10 for the tablet, depending on the desired screen size. Or you could wait a little and see what the new offerings are, with the rumoured Nexus 5, 8 and 11 coming soon. Advantage of getting a phone directly from Google is the stock Android running on it - no vendor modifications like with Samsung or HTC.
Ill throw into the mix the motorola X phone when it surfaces. Google own motorola so it will be a vanilla build id imagine will have the latest version of Android as well.
I forgot to say that I've kinda purchased my weight in apps from Apple so won't want to leave that walled garden on the tablet side. Was hoping to sell the ipad3 and only have to put a small amount on top for the mini... I liked the look of the htc one but it's camera is not too great. Images on the camera are lovely but when you sync them up to a PC, you can see that the quality is not that special. As the 925 is out, I'm assuming there will be a reduction in cost for the 820 and 920...
Being that you have the iPad, and intend moving to the iPad mini, does it not make sense to go with an iPhone. Most apps will run both the iPad and iPhone.
What he says above is accurate and difficult to ignore since you have spent so much, moving to windows or andriod where you may have to buy the same apps twice is kinda crazy.
What are you doing to get a day out of your current 800? I get 3 days out of mine with data on, emails every hour, facebook messaging, reddit in the background, etc. Anyways I'm thinking of upgrading too and i'd either for 920 or 720 due to the Gorilla Glass screen.
All data and wifi is off, I don't use apps and yet I still get minimal battery life. iPad for all my games and such, I mainly use the phone as a phone, texts and Drive.
