These are my original specs for my build: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit Unbuffered CL9 Intel Pentium G620 2.6GHz Socket 1155 3MB L3 Cache Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2V-B3 H61 Socket 1155 VGA DVI Onboard 7.1 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard Thermaltake Armor A30 Micro ATX and Mini ITX Case Around about £198. I have kicking about a Crucial C300 SSD and a 500GB HDD, an optical drive,a PSU and a 8400GS. Change that to an OCZ SSD as I have had to RMA it and am awaiting for a replacement which means the Crucial is in my main rig. But someone recommended this mobo Asus P8H61-M LX2 Si, Intel H61 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...ii-3gb-s-pcie-20-(x16)-vga-on-board-micro-atx It would mean saving a fiver but is it worth it?
It depends. Pretty much the only real difference between two is that Asus uses some old style electrolytic capacitors as well. Plus the 2x PCI-E x1 + 1x PCI slot at Asus versus 3x PCI-E x1 at Gigabyte.
I was considering exactly that Asus board, but unfortunately every board from Asus, MSI or Gigabyte had only Realtek ethernet controllers, versus the Intel ones (DH61CR in my case) which had Intel NIC.
It was meant as "there is no big difference between those boards, pretty much all H61 boards with DVI output have same feature set, except the Intel DH61CR, which has better NIC".
