Bah, Tom's hardware is just Nvidia biased.

Maybe, but they use the same systems for almost every test (besides the pre-2008 tests) :p.

Funny thing. Ive been looking for the same stuff you have @ the same price. This is what I like: (i know i thing or 2 about jersey zip codes and used 08731)

    BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 790GX $99.99 ($10 mail in rebate)
XION Supernova 800W Modular Power Supply $119.99 ($20 mail in rebate)
    OCZ Vista Upgrade 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit $59.99 ($40 mail in rebate)
OCZ Vendetta 92mm CPU Cooler $30.99 (thermal paste included)
HIS Hightech Radeon HD 4870 1GB
AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION Agena 2.6GHz $369.98 (CPU+Video card combo and $10 mail in rebate)

total (including tax and shipping) $747.83

note: the video card is a bit overkill. feel free to use a POWERCOLOR AX4850 512MD3-PPH Radeon HD 4850 512MB for $174.99. That should do everything you throw at it. The mail in rebates will bring the final price down a good bit as well. you can probably use the money you get back to buy a new game.....or you can switch to geico computer insurance and save 15%. hope this helped. best of luck in your build

I heard the Xion Supernova has limited connections so I tend to go with the Corsair models, etc. You can get better (cheaper) ram then what you have listed. The cooler you have listed I've never heard of but being OCZ I imagine it's decent quality, you could also go with the arctic 7 as it is probably one of the most widely used and best CPU coolers (for the price).

And thats about it, the processor will probably have to be overclocked to get the most out of your video card though.

Thats just my opinion though, most of the stuff will work but you can save some money and get better hardware by going with other companies.

I can vouch for that CPU cooler, cheap and good IMO.
Also, the 4870 1GB will last you a long time, very good card.

And processor-wise, IMO, now is the time to go Intel, they still have the edge at the moment.

I did look at the intel stuff. A q6600 is tempting. What motherboard though? I think a cheap P45 looks nice....

I like 750i (Intel) or P45 motherboards, the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P is a great motherboard, there are a lot of positive reviews about it and from what I understand is a decent overclocker, it also comes with 2 PCI-e 2.0 slots, one running at x16 the other operating at x8. The PCI-e slot that operates at x8 is basically equal to a normal PCI-e x16 1.0 connection.

Infection you posted a Toms hardware link in the CPU cooler thread yesterday, can you please not use that website for anything other than taking the mick out of, it's a comedy of errors and shoddy, misleading information, has been for as long as I can remember. You are on Bit tech now, leave the crap sites behind :)

I could say the same for almost every Tech Website on the internet, so despite your "Request", no I will not cease supporting and reading / posting on TomsHardware now or ever, just because "You" don't like TomsHardware doesn't mean it's bad, it means that you dislike the opinions expressed there and are trying to force your opinions on myself and others (sounds familiar huh).

Basically, unless I am told by an Administrator / Moderator of Bit-tech.net that posting to TomsHardware is "Not allowed because it breaks <Insert rule here>" I will continue to use it as a resource.

No one forces you to click on links.

Was the table you linked to "facts" or "opinions"?

Just to clarify I imagine dec meant this motherboard when he said P5Q, it is indeed a great motherboard and has a lot of positive reviews as well.

The GA-EP45-DS3L that dec mentioned is basically equal to the one I mentioned but only comes with one PCI-e 2.0 slot, it's also only $79.99 (USD) after the mail in rebate (and not including taxes / shipping).
