Good upgrade call today and I told them I'll sleep on it. Galaxy 4 for the software and the HTC one for the casing and feel

S4 is absolutely gorgeous. The One isn't bad, I would get it, if not for the lack of GIANT SD CARD STORAGE ABILITY.

Oh and the One is a tad crappy on the camera side.

I don't find the build quality on either phone to be that bad. The One Feels better undoubtedly but the S4/S3 build quality is actually not bad. The lightness is something you start to appreciate after using your phone for a while.

If it's not urgent, then wait for the Jolla released sometime November/December.

The hardware is not the ultimate best, but the huge upside is the Sailfish OS and the user-replacable battery. And it's only €400 without contract.

I for sure waited a long time for an enhanced Nokia N9-successor :)

Thanks guys. I also had a choice with the Sony Xperia z but think I'll get the s4. Maybe I'm thinking this way so early in the morning after an alarm call out not good

I had this dilemma last month. In the end I decided to go for the s4. The HTC one is nice but in the end the sd storage and battery swung it for me.
The camera on the HTC one is not bad, but the s4 beats it a little bit.
I'm loving the s4 the screen is great and the thing is speedy. And I use some of the features I didn't think I'd use.

Also if you have been offered a deal from your network, you may get a better deal by trying to cancel. In my case they knocked off 5 quid a month and over 100 from the up front price. It will vary depending on your network though.

Teez, do you find the One X lasts all day?

I wish someone in the phone industry would finally figure out that I'd put up with another 2mm of width if my phone actually lasted past 8pm.

I wonder what you need your SD storage for ? How is 32GB internal memory not enough for you guys ? Do you need to carry your complete 1TB music library with you everywhere ? 32GB is enough for few weeks of non-stop (24/7) music.

@Parge: My HTC One (not One X) lasts usually around day and half, with about hour of web browsing per day, email and SMS notifications, about 2-3 minutes of calls per day.

@Kovoet: what software features in Galaxy S4 are actually worth it ? The eye control, which you have to turn off, otherwise the phone is laggy ? Or the IR remote support, which is in HTC One too ?

You do need SD storage as google no longer allow apps on SD, so you install a few programs like sat nav where maps take 3Gb alone and some of the latest games which download a Gb or so of game data and many Gb are gone, never mind music, photos and HD videos you might take.

Despite Googles insistance I can't have everything in the cloud, there is not always a data signal in a field or forest.

I can vouch for the Xperia Z water resistance, was on holiday last week videoing my daughter in the sea, of course dropped it in, struggled to find it in all the sand she was kicking up but eventually did, pulled it out, shook it of, everything fine :cooldude: despite being thin seems to last me all day.

Again, do you really need more than 32GB for all that ? And if you do, why use only SD cards ? How about USB drives ?

Get a OTG adapter, plug in an externally powered 1TB USB hard drive, done.

So is turning off your phone, removing battery, putting in microSD card, turning phone on, waiting for it to boot, finding out it was the wrong one from the ten microSD cards you carry in your pocket, so you repeat the whole procedure again .

And well, you can wait for this kickstarter to start producing in case you want that microSD :

32gb of storage isn't enough nowadays.

I have books, music, movies and tons of work stuff on my phone and there is no way I could live without my 64gb sdcard.

Why limit yourself when there is an option not to?

I use the eye control all the time and don't notice any lag whatsoever. I also use the wave and hover over capabilities as well, the camera is also sharper.

On top of that touchwiz > sense

Who is also going to seriously carry around a 1tb drive, I could carry several micro sd cards around in my wallet a lot easier

Who does that, you just put a 64/128Gb in that in turn with your onboard is good enough to be getting on with in a phone.

You don't need to turn your phone off and on, just pop back off and pop card out and other card in
