I fancy some stealth action and haven't played a stealth game in a LONG time. I don't know what to buy so...

    Where does my money go?

How much Stealth are we talking here?

The old Splinter Cells were more tradtional stealth games in that you really wanted to sneak around without alerting anyone (in fact, usually a "perfect" playthrough meant alerting noone and getting seen by noone). I personally prefer the original SC over Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory, but apparently the latter is regarded as one of the best in the series.

The newest SC game, Conviction is more similar to Arkham Asylum's approach. It simply benefits you a lot to use Stealth and it's more about planning how to take everyone down in the room most efficiently, quickly and quietly. It's not so much sneaking around but lurking in the shadows waiting/planning until the time is right.

For Splinter Cell I still prefer the first one, though I had plenty of trouble getting it to behave on modern hardware. Perhaps some of the Hitman games? You can choose to do most missions by stealth only. Then there is Thief for some old school stealth.

If you do get chaos theory, it doesn't run on windows 7 without some 'help' (patches and nodvd etc.) its well documented if you google it or I can help as have it running fine on my system.

I did google it and saw the patches and things. But I've downloaded it now and its running fine without patches. o_O

Is it possible that they have patched the game and released the patches as default with the Steam copy?

There was much rejoicing when I realised Chaos Theory was on steam! Truly brilliant game...

Never enjoyed Blood Money as much as I felt I should be, time to revisit it perhaps. I've had two copies of the Thief trilogy for years, definitely time to start those!

While I don't like the Thief games or Hitman Blood Money I do agree with Joe they are iconic and should be played.

As for Splinter Cell: the original or Chaos Theory are the best. Pandora Tomorrow is not bad, but just skip double agent (aka double fail).
