I was watching someone play Grid and the Dirt earlier and I just couldn't understand how anyone can race a car from that 3rd person view. Fair enough for a game like GTA where you kinda need to be able to see more of your surroundings but in a racing game? I prefer using the in car view. It's much more fun.
Either the bumper or bonnet view depending on what's available in everything except GTA/Saints Row. Have been that way since GT2...that makes me feel old lol.
In general for any game where you use cars but proper racing isn't involved, I use third person (GTA type situations). Any game that needs me to hold racing lines and take corners well, it's bumper (preferably) or bonnet cam every time. You need a first person view, preferably unobstructed, of the road ahead. Third person may be nicer to look at, but all your car on your screen is doing is taking up space, and you can race much, much better from 1st person.
Bumper for me, especially when playing PGR4, i find i can corner better etc, also, i find that when i can see my car, it appears to take up 2/3rds off the track when i know it doesn't, so yea, Bumper for me. Sam
I use rear near to give me a good detailed view of the surroundings. Realistic racing games I find tedious to the point of eyeball gouging.
The 3rd person view gives you a better view of the surroundings I find and make arcade games easier. For simulation racing games I use the inboard camera, with the view of the dashboard and wheel etc as I think its the most realistic. Its been such a long time since I played GT Legends with a wheel, such a great game.
I typically use any form of first-person view. The main reason why somebody would use the third-person camera is to show off to others their pimped out car at an arcade. Options two and three are practically the same.
Not really. In Dirt the in car windscreen view has a lot more road in view as you are literally pressed against the glass but in the helmet view you've got the wheel, car interior, beams and all that to contend with. It's definitely harder.
In realistic games I always use the In Car cam. If not I also like the hood/bonet cam. Both of those give a good feel of whats going on. For other games like TrackMania and GTA I use 3rd person view. I dont know how people can use the bumper camera though. I cant stand it. You cant see the width of your car with it.
That does depend though... The GT series is just dull for example, but Dirt is a genuinely great game even though it is very much single player. Rally is much more interesting anyway though.
When I'm playing a realistic game I quite like the helmet cam if it's available, however I usually find bumper/bonnet cam easier to use. In games like GTA/Burnout I use 3rd person.
Arcady racers, Gran turismo, PGR etc I use 3rd person. For F1 sims and real driving sims I use the helmet if its available or if not I use the cockpit view.
Depends upon the size of the car, but I go for 3rd person near if it's a small car, or far if it's a big car. Never been able to use anything else, as it just takes too long to get dialed into the size of the car, as by that point I'm ready for an upgraded car anyway!
Always behind near, I also can't handle realistic racing sims, is not that I hate them, I'm just rubbish
bumper, from when i used to break keyboards by wearing out the x,c a and z keys playing colin mcrae rally 2. you can feel slides better and gauge how the weight of the car is being positioned by the angle of the screen.
