Hi, Getting some bits together for new build after xmas. Going Ryzen 3rd gen, just need to pick a nice board at around £200-£250. Any suggestions?
Having just used an msi b550 gaming carbon for a build, I was amazed with how much stuff they packed on a fairly midrange board. Even had a header to connect Corsair commander to!
Not the Gaming Edge Wifi! For some reason MSI cheaped out on the VRMs for that board and it runs hot and unstable because of it. It's infamous for falling over at random, especially if you put one of the big Ryzen CPUs in it or try overclocking. MSI released the X570 Tomahawk earlier in the year and that's a much better motherboard for £200-ish, more or less the same features but chunkier power delivery and better stability.
Please provide evidence from multiple credible sources. Seriously, you can't just accuse a company of something like that...
Erm, go read the reviews? It's not exactly a state secret. The X570 Gaming Plus has the same problems with high VRM temps. Later models like the Tomahawks and B550 boards rectify the problem, but the Gaming Edge and Gaming Plus should be avoided. http://der8auer.com/x570-motherboard-vrm-overview/
You are the one who accused a supposedly legitimate company of deliberately designing a product that isn't fit for purpose, so it is your duty to back it up with evidence. Basic common sense and all. Anyway, since you did deliver the evidence recommendation has been withdrawn and MSI blacklisted for next couple years for me. And thank you for the heads up about them being such utter scumbags.
I have been looking at one of these Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 Chipset ATX Motherboard Was: £259.99 £209.99 * It seems not a bad deal from overclockers. Any thoughts?
Yeah, don't order the Edge WIFI. I made that mistake. Not the best board, but the best VRM and given the thumbs up by Buildzoid. I have one, can't fault it. Have changed the link. The first was renewed and I didn't notice until after.
that'll be a maybe ... just depends when the board was made as to what BIOS will be on it. Looks like bios can be updated without CPU anyway.
I nearly bought the Asus but after a couple of really poor warranty experiences with them I vowed never again ( unless it's a crazy good deal or the only viable option ) MSI did make up for their mistake in my eyes with the x570 tomahawk which is a far superior board to the Asus tuf for a similar price. I'd seriously consider it if I were you.
