Original story What the hell is the point of congressional oversight if the White House gets to edit the testimony before it's given? In criminal law this is called "witness tampering" and for the life of me I can't see why that term shouldn't apply here.
Because the president has decided to be above the law, and no one is telling him he isn't. Congress needs to grow some balls and tell off Bush for things like this. There is really no hope of this happening though, so we will go on throwing out the Constitution and the values this country was built on to protect us from the evil terrorists and Iran.
Reminds me of a cartoon strip I saw with the underling giving his boss a report, boss is thinking, "And if your report doesn't back up my foregone conclusions I'll use it to wipe my arse..." Over here, adding stuff is known as "sexing up the facts", removing stuff is "being economical with the truth". These scientists just don't understand the political dangers of telling it based on the evidence. Voters might start taking an interest in what politicians are doing.
