A couple of days ago I had a PDF which would be best read as a full screen and to make the text readable I rotated my screen 90 degrees (Dell 2005fpw) and it's been like that since.

I have a dual screen setup and now my left screen is at 90 degrees whilst the right is still on the standard position. Now I'm using the rotated screen for PDF reading and web viewing. Now that I really like it I'm leaving it like this for a while. I suppose having a widescreen monitor rotated is a bit more natural for reading since it is the same orientation as a book or A4 paper.

Anybody else have it the same - providing their monitor has a rotation mechanism.

I have mine set as landscape. I tried turning it to the same orientation as a boot, but it wasn't working out so well.

Yes, but how big is your screen?

    :sigh:

I think ideally I'd like one of those, flanked by two 20 inchers in portrait, but otherwise no mine's always in landscape.

5:4 you mean. The 17/19" displays are closest to square.

My 2005fpw is rotated at home, next to a 2405fpw in standard landscape mode.

Im two thirds of the way to that now :hip:, unfortunatly 2007fps are getting harder to find. Its is the way to go though.

I used to have a crappy 15 inch monitor that was pretty much useless until I turned it on it's side and used it for layers in photoshop. I could see about 5 more. It was worth it.

I had my 24" Dell at my old job portrait for about 8 months or so.

    Made me chuckle!

I think I'm going to keep one monitor on portrait for a while, I haven't been arsed to actually move the portrait monitor closer to the landscape one so currently there is a 4" gap in between. Don't think I'm going to move it anytime soon. :)

Only downside I guess is the masses of space I have to scroll down on this forum!

My main monitor (22" Samsung) is the most unadjustable screen on the planet- it simply sits there and assumes you'll be too distracted by its shiny blackness to care about ergonomics. The laptop however is a convertible tablet so I stick it in portrait mode whenever I'm reading something or am using the touchscreen.

Sometimes I'll rotate my 2005FPW like yesterday when I was making a long smal banner with pictures..
But most of the time it's in landscape mode.

Horizontal at the mo, will be switching monitor at work to vertical once all data/crap is moved over to new laptop though. Makes SQL so much easier with the screen's turned!
