In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Relix, and the Word was Relix.
Now Relix's stomach was empty, and the Spirit of Relix was hovering over the Forum.
And Relix said, Let there be cheesecake: and there was cheesecake.
A prophet shall the Lord Relix raise up unto you of your brethren; he shall be named Nexxo and from him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

    Is that Rule 1? :D

Well, BT... you are cruising for a bruisin... or at least, you are making me seriously consider putting adblock on this computer... I really don't mind you guys getting money if that means there are some images(animated or not) on your site someone else put there. But if you allow those ads to interfere with my browsing, I get jumpy.

I know it's not you guys putting or authorizing these ads here, but if someone is in the position to let them removed, it's you.

Not really. As has been mentioned before Simon or whoever, can talk to the ads team and offer feedback (which he has done before and is doing again on our behalf) but he can't just take it upon himself to remove ads. The ads team has to decide that and they don't have to listen to Simon either.

As it has been discussed in this thread before we can always contact the big wigs, however if they do not listen to their employees (with a good standing - editor) then why would they listen to us?

Edit: It has been a long day...

However, that is not really the attitude to have towards this, Simon etc have been working hard with us - even though we shoot them down and they are faced with a group of upset people - to get ads that make everyone happy. But as well all large organisations everything takes time!

I believe current corporate procedure is
    1. Start a facebook page entitled ******** is c**p
    2. moan about it on twitter desperately hoping it will trend.
    3. start a facebook page moaning about how your twitter post didn't trend
    4. get your page noticed by national press by a) forgetting to wear underwear b) getting a council to try and censor your blog c) get famous and then avoid paying tax whilst not being a donor to the current political power.

at least I think that's how it currently works

Is it the browser or is it Flash? The latest Flash version has known problems with crashing.

Still, at least it's a way of stopping those inconvenient ads from running ;)

The IE ad expanded on mouseover, turned yellow and then killed the page.

It probably is a flash problem, as that updated yesterday, but it still results in an unreadable page.

Yes the IE add is the worse, it disabled my mouse until I have clicked on it. Bit-tech/CPC this is unacceptable! I will cancel my subscription if this is not corrected.

IE ad seems to have disappeared. This is good because I was just about to install an adblocker for the first time ever because of it. bit-tech can rest assured their revenue stream is safe for now (until the next such type ad appears and then I'll be all over that sh!t)

Realised I had admin rights on my work PC. Installed Chrome with Adblock and Bit's irritating ads are now gone. Sorry but I found them getting more and more intrusive.

OK, the IE9 ad was sort of acceptable compared to this NetApp ad, which is simply impossible. Are you guys serious at throwing it out at every bloody page, in middle of it ? Click on forum, NetApp ad. Click on new posts, NetApp ad. Click on page 2, NetApp ad. Click on a article, NetApp ad. Go to bit-tech homepage, NetApp ad.

The annoying IE ad and put Bit-tech on your task bar stuff is gone. However, there's a highly annoying NetApp ad popping up in the middle of the page. I must have clicked close on it at least a dozen or so times... every single damned page, every thread I looked at. (Yep, exactly as faugusztin said above.)

I have a lot of patience, but this is trying mine. Advertising revenue is what makes things go, but Adblock is going to be on soon. The other option is just not visiting and participating on these forums any longer, which would be a shame. Oh, and I would sooner have a root canal than buy NetApp's product.
