I went in my local mappers today to pick up a catalouge cause i cant find nuttin on the web very easily and they're like £4!! WHOW!! i know its a BIIIIG book n all, but £4?!? why dont they charge 2 and make it up on other stuff?
Either a) not many ppl get catalouges or
    b) LOADS of ppl do and they will buy them at that price or
    c) they want to make a profit on them unlike places like argos who give em away for free.

Lol, I thought you said *cathodes* for a moment, I was about to go off on one :D

Yeah..4 quid is very steep for a catalogue, although the may well make a loss on them if they charge less.

    Paper covers rock

    Money for old rope.

It is over the top but will pay for its self in time.

How many gaming mags do you buy a month that cost £4?

Not the same I know but just thought I mention it.

You could always kick up stink they might send you a freebie.

hehe my boss got me 1 for free from our local electrical wholesaler .

Also has any1 eles noticed that half the index does not match up with the rest of the catalog i.e. usb plug is on page 109 , but the index says its on page 95 . Its a bit anyoing when ya looking for stuff .

    Re: Paper covers rock

That's why i dont buy mags... at all. All i buy is a newspaper every so often for 35p to keep up with world events (cause i dont have a TV in my room at Uni and NOONE will watch th news on the communial TV in the kitchen).

I read all my gaming/tech stuff off the net for free :D but maplin catalouge needs a better search function cause if you type in something in the search box 9/10 times you get nothing (even when its a very general search base) and the other 1/10 you get over 200 products :(

£4 is steep, especally as the index is a work of fiction, it is never correct on page numbers!. My Maplin store is great and lookup the pages on their computer, however bussy without a complaint - though I do nearly live there.

The catalogues contain vouchers you can use against purchases and get your money back... They are also quite expensive to make and Maplin needs to recoup some of the cost back. Also the fact is that most people that buy maplin's catalogues would rather have a researched item description as opposed to the generic one the Argos and Index catalogues give for example. As for the index inaccuracies, this year is the first year the catalogue was produced "in-house" give the guys some credit, I'm sure they will learn from their mistakes for next year.

I have a CD version of the catalogue - and that was about £3.50. I bought it in with a large order...I think maplin should give you a free CD Catalogue (if you want one) with any purchase over a set amount, say £30 or £40 maybe.

The CD version has no vouchers btw....

The CD version should be 1.99... and, as you say phil, there are no vouchers. I do agree that the CDs should be given out free with large purchases...
