I've heard oodles of bad things about Tiscali, on all levels. Not in the least surprised either, considering their prices.

Actually more of a compliment, never had a problem returning stuff to lewis' and its not normally more expensive than any other high street shop.

Have to defend tiscali slightly. I was on a 512kb/s line for about 3 years when I recieved an email saying that they would upgrade me to 8mb/s for £1 less per month and the switch over only took about 6 hours. However, the support is dire. The technical support line is only open Monday to Friday and is closed by 6pm.

I've used Be Unlimited for my ISP for a year, but I cancelled it recently. I completely forgot about the 3 month notice needed and I've got to pay a £50 fee. d'oh. No worries you get it back when/if you rejoin. I also got an email telling me that I had to return the supplied modem. Grrr, they made a big fuss over a 'free' modem worth £60. Nope it's worth £100 to them, as a fee, if you don't return it. Thankfully they will provide a pre-paid postage bag but when I go back to them in September they're going to have to send out another modem. Irritating.

Sounds perfectly logical and very helpful to me, it does say clearly in the terms and conditions about the notice peroid and return of modems. They even offer to pay the postage!
I would not allow you to hold on to a £60 item just because you say your going to come back in the future.

Hmmmm, having a deeper look into the terms and conditions on their site it looks to have been made clearer. I can't remember reading anywhere about the modem leasing. I don't think it was even mentioned on the T&Cs on the paperwork that arrived with the modem.
