Hey guys, I'm new here and My English sux :).

A few days ago I reinstalled windows XP after formating my HD and I just noticed today that my TEAC burner, LG dvd and WD hardrive are recognized as SCSI in the Device Manager (they arn't SCSI..). My HD works fine, so does the DVD, but the burner does not read nor does he write. The burner also tends to dissaper from "My Computer" and only Searching for new hardware brings him back.

I tried uninstalling the burner,DVD and HD and then resting so that windows will auto recognize them. This didnot work.

Here is a pic of the device manager:

So far for hardware, now lets go soft.

Before the format, i used windows 2000. On 2000 I used Winamp 5 as my Mp3 player and it supported 5.1 speakers just fine. Now when I try to listen to music on Winamp (any version), I only hear music from the 2 frons speaker, the center and the sub. Why is that?

I'm Using Windows XP pro, with SP2.

Well.. that's all. hope you can help me :)

    thanks allot!

better yet: when you install the nforcedrivers, skip the IDE ones and use the windows built-in drivers. they work 598346503824520345203457 times better.

    :(

Well, I was wrong. The %#^& burner still dosnt read\write at all. this sux :waah:

When I try burnening in Nero, it fails at 5%, when I try putting a CD inside the burner it recognizes it as a blank cd.

    any ideas?

reinstall the windows ide drivers over the nvidia ones, and then install forceASPI.

reboot twice, then try burning again.

also, are your jumpers set to CS or MS/SL? if they are ms/sl - are they on the right connector on the cable? sometimes it actually DOES make a difference.
    ----
as for your sound problem - are you using the onboard sound from the motherboard, or a pci card?

and in the control panel under sound, advanced- is the speaker setup set to 5.1 surround? if i remember correctly, i had to force the rear speakers to work with winamp and my audigy ...

I use Mwarhead's 2.45a drivers. I would suggest rolling back the drivers and then bunging these on, as I've never had a problem, but, as they say, ymmv.

    humm.

Tried the drivers - didnt work.

The burner is Master and conected to the Master, The DVD is conected to the Slave, and it's slave.

    the DVD works fine.

try swapping them, jumpers and positions - i usually put my burners on secondary slave - had issues before with a cd burner as master. as soon as i switched it to slave, i stopped making coasters.
