Rant Why have people started saying "This is true" so often?

    Not long after this thread popping up I heard "this is true" being used in the wild. I also got an irregardless on the same day as a sort of bonus. That was from a different person though.

    Given that it was spoken by an American, I think the phrase in question is just the usual American bad grammar being normalised and infesting the rest of the world. Where are you at is another one that irks me. They're insistence on using progressive verbs instead of stative verbs also drives me nuts. To be honest, I could probably go on about weird American idioms for days.

    Well, it could be worse. At least you didn't get an "...and it LITERALLY made my head explode"...
