It's the same as if someone is in your house, it's your property you are allowing them to be there and at any point if you decide that you don't want them there you can ask them to leave. Refusal to leave could be grounds for a trespassing charge.
It's similar, but it's not the same. There are legal restrictions on how you can treat people in and evict people from a place of business now. You can't kick somebody out of a shop for being ugly, or for being Welsh, but you can do so from your own home (I don't recommend trying it, though, unless you're sure you can take them in a fight.) Just need to find out precisely what the restrictions are, and how far they stretch. I can't believe a shop can kick you out because they don't like what you and your friend are talking about amongst yourselves, for instance.
never been kicked outta a pc world but bestbuy many times. Like 3 times for making dumb videos on the cameras there. then bout 6 times for helping ppl looking to not get ripped off and about 3 times for playing the game demos for hours
I don't think I've ever been kicked out of anywhere like that since I was around 13/14... At the time I probably would have been hanging around and doing nothing or d!icking around with the display equipment (such as testing CD players by blasting heavy metal). I probably deserved to be kicked out back then! When it comes to places like PCW et al, I tend to just bite my tounge and let them get on with it. Some of their sales tactics are out and out wrong, but I can't be a one-man army... If I stopped to help everyone who might possibly be getting ripped off then it'd take me ages to get anything done. If they challenge you - or your wife - to prove your age and you can't do so, then they have little choice but to kick you out. I can't remember if this is law or not, but either way most places have pretty strict policies about it. It used to be that if someone looked under 21 they'd be asked to prove their age; now most places have changed this to 25. Unlike the rest of Europe, we Brits can't handle our booze .
We don't have a PCWorld here, but I have been kicked out of a Pizza place before. Sunday Afternoon, and my brother and myself wanted to go for coffee. We walk past the row of waiters sitting there texting, digging in their noses and generally being disinterested. We sit down, and service doesn't arrive. The entirety of the people sitting outside can see me, though. So 10 minutes later, I see the manager, and I call him over. Me: "Do you have a policy to ignore people waving here?" him: "huh?" me: "Well, I have been here for ten minutes at least *point at two smoked cigarettes*, and noone has bothered even bringing me a menu, so I wondered if it's policy here to treat people like that, especially since there seem to be *count* 8 customers in here, and *count* 12 staff out there" him: "erm... who is your waiter" me: "I don't know... one of them, I suppose." him: "who showed you to the table?" me: "Noone. They were busy doing exactly what they're doing now, and seemed to not see me. I saw no sign asking me to please wait to be seated, so I thought it safe to just sit down and assume that someone would care enough about customers to help..." him: "Well, if noone seated you, then you can't expect anyone to hep you". me: "Really? Is that a fact? *see a woman waving at waiters in the back, being visibly PO'ed by the wait* - I reckon that woman back there also just sat down... and the 5 other people in here as well... they probably just got food because they were lucky... or because it grew, because CLEARLY your waiters have different priorities. Like, that one... he seems to be inspecting his boogers quite thorooughly, and has been doing that for the last 15 minutes... I would know - I've been sitting here that long". him: "With that attitude, sir, I'll have to ask you to leave, please" me: "I was planning on..."
I needed to be carried out of PC World today, not kicked out. I was in a state of shock. It has finally happened. I actually got some useful advice from PC World today ! It serves me right, it was either going into the supermarket and help with the shop or go down to the other shops on the retail park. I was in just looking and there is a new lad started work. Looked a real stereotypical geek. And he was . But I got chatting to him and I was explaining a minor problem I had with an older graphics card on a friends rig. He said he had heard of it before and made a couple of suggestions. I thanked him for the info and for not trying to flog me some shite I wasn't ever going to buy. I went to my mates house this evening to try out what he suggested, and stone me it bloody worked. Will pop in there during the week and say thanks, hopefully within earshot of his d***head store manager.
