With my Viewsonic LCD HDTV, it was a pixel mapping problem. The text was out of focus making it painful to read. But I've owned that since 2006 and it's starting to wear out. The screen has really annoying dark spots. I gave it to my parents when I got my new Samsung LCD HDTV. With my Samsung I couldn't get to the full 1920x1080 (1080p), I could only do something like 1360x768 with HDMI. Note, this isn't a help me thread, this is a rant. I have an older desktop connected with just a ATi 9200se video card. Right now it's running Xubuntu beautifully at 1920x1080 via VGA.
We don't to like unhappy friends. It reduces the community moral Off topic! Why does your byte-shop website require heavy manual labor to build. I don't know why you need all these materials... you can do the web site in simple HTML, CSS or PHP.
seems it doesn't work because it doesn't support 1080p. get a new card that supports 1080p and it will work.
Than why am I able to run my computer at 1920x1080 via VGA? GoodBytes, I was going to start my own computer repair business, but being a poor college student I didn't have the money needed to start up at the time. At the time I didn't feel like putting together a full site, but I did buy a domain. So I had to put something on there. lol I'm going to make more money and get benefits if I go work for someone else, so that's what I'm going to do. Note to self: Change my signature.
Plus one for PC-to-HDMI being a pile of ass. I tried mine on a friend's widescreen HD tv, always came out blurry and hideous regardless of settings and tweaks. Used a VGA cable, worked perfectly. I understand VGA is limited to a certain resolution, but I don't think I'll be running games in 2,xxx by 1,xxx anytime soon, TVs that big are just penis extensions, so I've given a big middle finger to HDMI. I'm sure it's great for consoles, and all, but for PCs it's about as reliable as the british government.
Hmm, I suppose that is true. However, I'll just stick with my video card and VGA. This computer isn't worth putting money into for a newer card, sadly.
HDMI isn't too bad, Right now My dad's using a LG 20" 720p monitor with a HD4xxx DVI-HDMI Adapter on an X1300(yes I know no audio) and it works fine, what sucks is that it's better to use it's native res(1366x768) than use 720p or even upscaled 1080i.
I just bought a new HDTV (see latest purchases thread), and the manual states that 1920x1080 is only available to a PC via 2 of its 3 HDMI sockets, the third only does 1280x1024 at best.
I'm not sure where you guys manage to have such trouble. I've connected a few systems to our TV via HDMI with absolutely 0 issues. Apart from the $9 DVI->HDMI cable not wanting to carry audio.
Depends, my Sharp AQUOS says it's only PC connection is through VGA which supports a max of 720p, yet it connects very happily to my PC via a DVI to HDMI cable at 1080p without issues. I think it's just a case of if you get lucky with the TV you purchase
